Amazon borrows $17.5B from banks as AI spending continues. The AI arms race is getting expensive. Amazon has secured a $17.5 billion loan from major banks including Citigroup, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo, HSBC, and BofA. The deal gives Amazon flexibility to draw the money when needed, rather than taking it all at once. This comes just two days after the company raised another $14 billion through a Canadian bond sale, bringing its total new financing to $31.5 billion in less than 48 hours. The money will reportedly be used for general corporate purposes, but the broader trend is clear: Big Tech is borrowing heavily to fund AI infrastructure, from chips to data centers. The big question is no longer whether these companies need to spend on AI. It's whether the returns will eventually justify the massive costs.

It still is. AI is changing how we work but the goal isn’t to compete with AI, it’s to learn how to work with it. While layoffs continue, new opportunities are opening for those who adapt. That’s what we do at WriteTechHub. Book our services today. writetechhub.org

Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI co-founder, on why the company that builds AGI shouldn't be chasing infinite profits: Speaking on the No Priors podcast, Ilya Sutskever turns a question on the very technology he's working to build. "If you believe that the technology that we are building, AGI, could potentially be so capable as to do every single task that people do... does it mean that it might unemploy everyone? Well, I don't know, but it's not impossible." From that possibility, @ilyasut draws a conclusion about how such a company should be structured: "And if that's the case, it makes sense. It will make a lot of sense if the company that builds such a technology would not be incentivized to make infinite profits." But he doesn't present this as a settled view. He immediately points to the force that complicates it β€” competition: "I don't know if it will literally play out this way because of competition in AI. So there will be multiple companies and I think that will have some unforeseen implications on the argument which I'm making. But that was the thinking." His point is simple: if AGI can do everything a person can, it might put people out of work on a massive scale, and that changes things.

The rarity!!! Announcements like these are usually either funding related or layoffs due to AI kinikan kinikan… Flutterwave is celebrating promoting over 100 employees… They also provided a one-time economic relief payment to all employees and also increased take home pay to support their staff because of the changes in the tax laws… Well done GB! Congratulations to all Wavers!!!
One of the greatest privileges of building @theflutterwave has been working alongside brilliant people across the world, united by a shared belief in Africa’s potential. From day one, we have focused on solving hard problems for Africa at scale. That journey is only possible because of Wavers who step up, take ownership, and deliver with excellence. This year, we promoted over 100 Wavers, a reflection of the strong culture of growth, ownership, and excellence we continue to build together. As we continue building for the future, we remain committed to supporting our people in meaningful ways. Alongside these promotions, we are issuing a one-time economic relief payment for all Wavers globally. We are also providing tax and cost-of-living adjustments payments for our Nigeria team in recognition of evolving economic realities. Going through 2026 and our tenth year, I remain deeply optimistic about the future we are building together. Profitability is our next milestone, and the next era of Africa's payments is ours to write. πŸš€πŸ¦‹ flutterwave.com/gb/blog/reco…

KARPATHY WAS RIGHT. THIS 40-MINUTE Y COMBINATOR LECTURE PROVES IT Karpathy said we're in the 1960s of AI - most people using Claude Opus 4.8 are still acting like it's just a search engine > software 3.0 - LLMs as operating systems, not chatbots > autonomous agents that run entire workflows without you watching the 32 skills in this article are how you actually cross that line bookmark this πŸ‘‡
