Don’t argue with people over sixty. Just don’t. It’s not just an age; it’s a masterclass in survival. They grew up without Google, without DoorDash, without therapy podcasts, and without an "undo" button. If something broke, they grabbed duct tape, WD-40, a hammer, and a look of sheer determination that made even the broken appliance second-guess itself. As kids, they knew exactly what kind of mood their mom was in just by the sound of how hard she slammed the cast-iron skillet onto the stove. They were the original latchkey kids β€” walking home from middle school with a house key tied around their neck, with strict orders to heat up lunch and not burn the kitchen down. By the time they were ten, they could bike to the corner store, buy a gallon of milk for the neighbor, feed the family dog, and still have time to play freeze tag in the yard until dark. Their knees were a permanent canvas of scrapes, bruises, and rubbing alcohol. Their universal first-aid kit was just a quick wash under the garden hose and a Band-Aid. If a bone wasn't sticking out, you were fine. They drank water straight from that same hose, ate Wonder Bread covered in butter and sugar, shared a single glass bottle of Coke among five friends, and somehow didn't die from a lack of sanitization. This is the generation that knows how to rewind a cassette tape with a No. 2 pencil. They know the suspense of waiting all week for a movie to air on TV, because if you missed it, it was gone. They remember rotary phones, looking up a family in a massive paper phonebook, and the excitement of getting a color television. They survived party lines, typewriter ribbons, early brick cell phones, and flip phones β€” and today, they might accidentally send you a 7-minute voice memo where the first 6 minutes are just them breathing and asking, "Hello? Can you hear me?" And don't you dare laugh. Because without a GPS, these people could drive halfway across the country using nothing but an old paper map, a cooler full of sandwiches, and the gut feeling that "the exit should be coming up somewhere around here." They are the ultimate masters of household magic. They can stitch, tighten, glue, and fix just about anything. And somewhere in their pantry, they have a "bag of bags" that is literally older than half the gadgets you own. Leave people over sixty alone. They saw the world before the internet, and they navigated the world after it. And through it all, they didn't just get by β€” they thrived.

There are perfectly lovely quotes, then there’s this quote by Nigel Bruce that puts most of them to shame. β€œI am in no way a distinguished man, but if I died tomorrow, I can honestly claim to have been what few men can call themselves - a really happy one. For 26 years I have been blessed with the love and friendship of a very wonderful woman. I have two attractive and splendid daughters of whom I am very proud, and my two sons-in-law I respect and like enormously. Except for a groggy leg I have been given excellent health, and all through my life I have had the friendship of many attractive and worthwhile people, for all this I am very grateful. I have made a few enemies and for their opinions I care not a fig. I may be broke or ill again, but as long as I have Bunny beside me I shall be happy, and I can only hope that our two daughters will enjoy their lives as much as their father has enjoyed every minute of his.” ~ Nigel Bruce

I received my FIRST bee sting ever, on my hand yesterday. (I’m old. Had no idea what to expect.) It HURT. Instant swelling. But it really, really hurt. I got my hand damp and pasted this all over it. Swelling went down and pain stopped almost immediately. Easiest hack on the planet.

Dear Mrs. Thomas: Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion, in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to, ban your husband from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Thomas, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras: 1. June15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking. 2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. We don't have a Code 3. 5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway. 6. August 14: Moved a, 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged. 8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called. 9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while, loudly humming the, 'Mission Impossible' theme. 12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his, 'Madonna Look' using different sizes of funnels. 13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed; 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!' 15. Took a box of condoms to the checkout clerk and asked β€œwhere is the fitting room?” And last, but not least: 16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile; then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the clerks passed out.

THIS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE ONE DAY: 1) Sudden panic attack β†’ Touch something cold (water, phone, metal). Your brain switches from fear to safety mode. 2) Heart beating too fast β†’ Cough 2–3 times forcefully. It resets your heart rhythm. 3) Can’t breathe properly β†’ Put your hands on top of your head. Your lungs open up instantly. 4) Feeling dizzy β†’ Focus on one spot and tense your legs. Blood rushes back to your brain. 5) Stuffy nose β†’ Hold your breath and nod your head up & down slowly. Open blocked airways. 6) Sudden anxiety β†’ Splash water on your face – it activates the calm reflex. 7) Can’t sleep β†’ Exhale longer than you inhale (4–7 breathing). Your brain goes into sleep mode.

This is why this country is so divided - this idiotic girl has not done the most basic journalism or she would know that every time she says there is β€œno evidence” she dishonors every American. There is evidence from here to Timbuktu & it is right in front of your eyes. Jake Tapper using this to attack the President is also so dishonest. A desperate effort to keep the lies going. We have to face reality in this country: these people are acting as co-conspirators for those who want to bury the truth - not expose it.
That is some wild, unhinged stuff from the President. Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that but more importantly we have a president who constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.

I can't even, in my worst nightmare, imagine the horror those young men felt. Remarkable feat. Thank you!
90% of the soldiers on the first boats to hit the beach didn't live to see the end of the day. Look at those faces. Some of them never made it to 18. Never forget that they paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We live our lives the way we do because of them.

An 80-year-old Japanese-American woman with advanced Alzheimer’sβ€”bedbound, incontinent, and speaking only in single syllables for yearsβ€”just shattered our understanding of neurodegeneration. After a single supervised 5-gram dose of psilocybin mushrooms (Enigma strain), she woke up after 19 hours and did the impossible: Regained full speech (forming complete, coherent sentences) Recovered lost memories (recalling long-forgotten life events) Regained mobility & continence (dressing herself and staying dry) Restored eye contact and humor A follow-up 3-gram dose one month later boosted her verbal fluency and agility even further. These gains lasted for weeks. 🧠 This Is Not A Cure. It’s Something More Profound. The case report, published in Frontiers in Neuroscience (May 27, 2026), proves that functions we assumed were irreversibly destroyed by dementia are actually still thereβ€”they are simply trapped behind broken neural gates. Psilocybin bypassed the damage. How? Through explosive, rapid neuroplasticity: The 5-HT2A Switch: Psilocybin floods 5-HT2A serotonin receptors, triggering a massive spike in BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor). Neural Rewiring: BDNF acts like fertilizer for the brain, driving dendritic spine growth, synaptogenesis, and the repair of broken networks. Circuit Restoration: It downregulates chronic neuroinflammation and re-establishes critical communication between the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. πŸ›‘ The Tragedy of Our Delay: Johns Hopkins is already studying psilocybin for depression in early-stage cognitive decline. But for late-stage, severe patients? It is an absolute shame that we aren't taking these trials more seriously. Modern medicine has exactly zero treatments that restore lost function in advanced dementia. This single case demands immediate action. We don't have time to wait for a 10-year bureaucratic pipeline while millions of minds fade into the fog. ⚑ The Directive for Compassionate Use: President Trump’s executive order accelerating psychedelic research gives us the exact legal framework we need. We must bypass the standard red tape and establish compassionate use protocols immediately for advanced patients. For millions of families watching their loved ones slip away, this case report is a thunderbolt of hope. The brain still holds secrets, and science moves fast when we get out of its way. What if a single guided experience could give you back one last conversation with the person you love? πŸ”„ Share this if you want real hope for dementia. Access and research must accelerate NOW. #Psilocybin #Alzheimers #Neuroplasticity #BDNF #MedicalBreakthrough #CompassionateUse #Dementia

You want to fix education? Fix #12: Close the Chromebook. Confiscate the phone. Hand them a pencil. Let me break down Fix #12. This is not about being anti-technology. It is about understanding what we lost when we handed every student a device and called it progress. The pencil is not nostalgic. It is instructional. The act of writing something by hand, crossing it out, rewriting it, and seeing your own thinking on the page is different from hitting backspace and moving on. One leaves a record of how you got there. The other erases it. What does it mean in practice? It means the first draft is written by hand. It means the phone goes in a pouch at the door and stays there until the bell rings. It means the Chromebook closes during instruction and opens only when the task requires it. It means students learn that thinking is not the same as typing, that a blank page requires something from you that a blinking cursor does not, and that the discomfort of not knowing what to write next is part of the process and not a reason to check Instagram. How does this help kids? The drafts are where the learning happens. A student who types a first draft, runs it through a grammar check, and submits it has skipped the most important part of writing. She never had to sit with a bad sentence long enough to figure out why it was bad. She never had to cross it out and try again. She never had to think harder because the easy option was gone. We handed her every shortcut and then wondered why she could not write a paragraph without help. We made it too easy to skip the struggle. The struggle is the point. How do we make this happen? We need schools that back teachers when they collect phones instead of caving to the parent who calls because her child feels anxious without it. We need administrators who understand that a quiet Chromebook is not a punishment. It is a choice about where attention goes. We need to stop equipping classrooms with technology before asking whether the technology is serving the learning or replacing it. And we need to be honest about what we have seen since the devices arrived. Test scores did not go up. Writing did not improve. Attention spans did not grow. The technology did not deliver what the promise said it would, and the kids in the room are the ones who paid for that gap between the promise and the reality. The goal is not to go back. The goal is to be intentional about what we put in front of kids and why. Sometimes the most powerful tool in the room is a pencil and a blank piece of paper. #YouWantToFixEducation
