🚨 ALLEGED DOG ABUSER - ST ANNES ON SEA BLACKPOOL. IF YOU KNOW HIM, HAVE A WORD From another social media post: Does anyone recognise this specimen of humanity who was on the beach - south of the pier - about 7.45 this evening (Wednesday 27 May)? My friend and I (with our dogs) noticed him as he was hitting both of his dogs. He then picked one up either by its collar or scruff of the neck and let it hang! We could hear what he was saying to them (loudly) and it wasn’t pleasant. Out came my camera and I pretended to be videoing the beach but was taking this photo. He sort of walked towards us and as he did so the language he used towards the dogs changed from very unpleasant to more favourable. As he came closer I said I’d noticed the change in what he was saying to the dogs - well the beast was unleashed and a tirade of foul abusive and threatening language came forth - he was nearly screaming at us. Other people heard him as we were asked what all that was about. My only concern was for the dogs - 2 Yorkshire terriers (or similar) who seemed to be fastened together by a length of chain - could have been a ‘brace’ for walking 2 dogs on one lead. Smudge arrived in appalling condition, he was underweight and suffering from an untreated flea allergy which has now been successfully treated and he’s looking and feeling much better. Smudge is a 5y.o Beddlington x Whippet and I’m sure you’ll agree he’s a very handsome chap indeed. He is super people friendly and adores any human attention he can get!! I don’t think he’s had the best life before arriving with us, but despite his past he’s the happiest little soul who just wants to please. Smudge is dog friendly but can get a little over excited in play, especially with small dogs. He would really benefit from being rehomed with a resident dog, a calm, tolerant dog either the same size as him or bigger would be ideal. He will not be rehomed with cats. Smudge walks calmly on the lead and travels quietly in the car. Smudge would be better suited to a retired person or someone who works from home as he’s not keen on being left on his own. This is something that will improve with time. He is such a lovable boy who loves to do zoomies in our enclosed field followed by a snooze with his favourite human.
