I held my final meeting with the U.S. Consul General, Karen Grissette. As she concludes her assignment this week, we discussed shared priorities and areas of bilateral cooperation between Bermuda and the USA. Recently, the Government announced a collaborative initiative between Arizona State University’s (ASU) Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) and the Government of Bermuda. The benefits of this partnership include: - 5 full-tuition undergraduate scholarships annually for Bermudian students to study in Arizona. - Tuition Reduction Fund: Providing tuition awards that reduce the cost of in-person attendance at ASU to half of the standard international student tuition rate for Bermudian students. - Online Program Scholarships: To reduce the academic year tuition rate for full-time students in undergraduate online programs. - Bermudian students can also enrol as first-year students or transfer students from Bermuda College as part of its ongoing collaboration with ASU. The Government prioritises supporting Bermuda’s students in a changing world. This initiative is a testament to our commitment and highlights the benefits of international partnerships. I thank ASU President Crow, BIOS Chair Steve Weinstein, BIOS President and CEO Dr Curry for their support in providing this opportunity to Bermuda’s students.
