MOCA ROOMs began as an experiment to decentralize our curation by extending the Museum out into hundreds of unique, permissionless, interoperable metaverse spaces - or ROOMs. This week, 3 years after our first “Genesis ROOMs” release, the final 191st ROOM has been minted. The collection is now complete and all Pass holders have received their ROOM. This series is both an epic catalog of experimental architectures and a record of open curation - an onchain archive where every 2D JPEG hung within a ROOM became a permanent part of the ecosystem metadata. This project is dedicated to exploring the infinite possibilities of what a “Museum” can become in a new quasivirtual world where art curation is a wholly public exercise. ROOMs would not have been possible without the incredible support of Pass collectors and the architects who joined me in exploring the emerging virtual realm.
