A school bus ended up in the house of a neighbor a block away today. Half a dozen times since we’ve lived here, cars have ended up in people’s yards or houses! @NCDOT says that’s normal. WTF.

Four years ago when there were two incidents of cars hitting houses within a week, I reached out to the NCDOT who said absolutely nothing could be done. They claimed there was no way to slow traffic on a neighborhood street, which is complete bullshit.

There is absolutely no reason for a street running through a neighborhood, a block from an elementary school, to be so poorly designed that any accident sends vehicles flying off into people’s homes.

We are working to transition my aunt to long-term care. A retired public kindergarten teacher, her pension is too high to qualify for Medicaid and too low to pay for care. It’s a catch-22 that older people, especially those with a life time of public service, don’t deserve.

Elon musk campaigned with Trump last week.

I once taught a memoir writing class for junior high girls (age 12-14). After a girl shared she’d been harassed by adult men I asked how many others had been harassed by adult men and more than half had. When I asked how many had been harassed by boys their age 100% had.

Yesterday as we were delivering food and water to Bat Cave we found a @fema Urban
Search and rescue unit NY-TF1 after a long day airlifting people, etc..a team 18 people and 3 dogs. People like them are heroes all over NC….@DHSgov this what government does and we don’t realize it sometimes…👍#ChefsForNC

Reporting from Bakersville,Mitchell county we @wckitchen landed to provide meals to @Bakersville to the city and @NationalGuard doing amazing work, and even under the circumstances and damage that their city and county had...they have water, food, medicines @fema support...etc...a community coming together. This is what I see all over...Let' do this!
