Elon could literally solve homelessness tomorrow. All he needs to do is sell his stake in the companies he created from the ground up, crashing the price and evaporating his wealth as well as the savings and pensions of workers globally.. handing the control of these companies over to short term profit interests and preventing any long term vision from being enacted.. THEN take whatever money that remains which will be nowhere near 1tn and give it to homeless charities who have never solved homelessness anywhere on earth because they’re financially incentivised to do the opposite. Bam - homelessness solved. The reason he doesn’t do any of this is because he’s evil.

Pakistanis in Pakistan rape western women they get executed. Pakistanis in western countries rape western women, they get off and the judge apologizes for the racism they had to endure.

Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own

Being afraid of reading "problematic authors" is due to your own insecurity with your beliefs and identity. You think that if you read "bad people", you'll become bad yourself, soaking up their toxins like a dim sponge. This is because you are stupid and can't trust yourself.

Saw a down-and-out in Seattle last night. His sign said not "I need food" or "I need a job" but "I need a fat bitch". What could this mean?

I go on Facebook once a year to check who still wishes me happy birthday. A few years ago I read a fascinating book on the Congolese Civil War, started looking up militia commanders who’d been interviewed, realised they all had Facebook accounts and started sending them friend requests so for a couple of years now I’ve received more happy birthday wishes from Congolese warlords than university friends.

I think most people misunderstand the universe as a place where things happen to them. it is not. it waits for you to speak first. God built it this way, so the cowards would stay cowards and the brave would find out. whisper self-pity into it and it will preserve that self-pity for you. speak command you do not yet feel worthy of and watch it start shaping you into someone who can finally carry it

during soccer at high school I just couldn't get my head in the game and I told the coach to take me out because, "I couldn't give 100%" He then said to me, "I've never seen you give 100%” That happened 10 years ago and any competitive event I'm in I can hear his voice saying that clear as day. Doesn't matter if I'm finishing a set of heavy squats or doing a pick-up game of basketball, I always hear it.

Its been over 40 years since I last saw this movie. I loved it then as I do now. The scene of the encounter between Marcelino and the Christ of the attic is the emotional climax of the movie Marcelino Pan y Vino and represents the miracle born from the innocence of a child who, upon seeing a statue of the crucified Jesus, genuinely believes that the man is hungry and cold. Moved by compassion upon seeing the wounds and blood on the face of the image, Marcelino decides to share his food. Tenderness, sensitivity, innocence, and faith.

“I am convinced that God sends human beings a lot of signs that have no objective existence whatsoever for the wise and the learned. The ones those signs don't concern regard them as imaginary, but those for whom they are intended can't be mistaken, because they are living the experience from within.” — René Girard
