🚨 FIFA statement on Thomas Partey left out of Canada.
“FIFA can confirm that player Thomas Partey will be unable to travel from Ghana's Team Base Camp in Boston, USA, to Canada for their first match against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, as his visa application has been refused by the Canadian government.
"FIFA is not involved in the immigration processes of host countries, including the adjudication of visas. As with previous FIFA events, the host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and is admitted into the country."

More Americans are watching soccer, at stadiums and on television, than ever before. MLS and NWSL are stronger leagues than ever. The academy pipeline is now producing talented teenagers like never before and that will filter into the USMNT in the coming years. USL and MLSNP both have ambitious plans to build new clubs in smaller markets, engaging even more fans directly and in new ways. Investment in the game is at record levels.
American soccer isn't perfect and isn't there yet - but its actually growing nicely. The World Cup is a 39 day festival which stands on its own. There will be a lot of bad 'hot takes' about American soccer in these coming weeks but the game is growing and will continue to grow regardless of what happens between now and July 19 and regardless of what Europeans or others say.
