...And we're soon done again with the yearly round of idiocy of broadcasters and jury members complaining publicly about Israeli song festival participation, and then complaining next day the thing and votes were politicized. Shameful behavior of my countries broadcaster. Again.

I love this I don't say it because I'm somehow anti-ai, I say this because it's destructive for your life. You're going to have disrupted sleep, you're going to have disrupted relationships, your whole life will be lived between thinking of the next prompt and results of the current one. This ain't it king
Everyone is slowly coming to this realization, and I assure you, no one is running multitudes of agents overnight. No one that is doing anything of substance at least. There _are_ people pretending to be scientists, or fully caught up in their drug infused AI overdose, that think their slop machines are changing the world. They're not tho, and they're just wasting a bunch of money and compute to create a lot of LoC that will just get thrown away. The state of the art is still "can we even one shot a production quality patch that we wont regret later", and its rarer than you'd expect based on discourse.

Heads-up: my team has a (RARE) opening in our schedule for a new client (and *possibily* two) coming up very soon. I think it's been almost two years since I could say that! We've been super busy, so this is indeed rare. If you’re looking for expert help building out a React Native or Expo app and want highly experienced RN devs from Infinite Red, hit me up! I opened DMs or you can email first name at infinite dot red. More about us in the next tweet, if you need additional convincing. 😄

Dit is het gevolg van het wereldwijd wegkijken van antisemitisme. Dit is wat “Globalize the intifida” betekent. Joden zijn vogelvrij verklaard omdat onder het mom van “Pro Palestina” alle haat gespuid mag worden. Massale ophef? Rode lijn demonstraties? Nooit weer?

Putin said earlier this week that Russia has no plans to invade Europe. I had a deja vu moment when I was listening to his crap:

Congrats to @acemarke for landing major Immer perf improvements in v11 Immer doesn't make noise, but it remains one of the most valuable tools to help us update React state conveniently

Immer 11.0 was just released! With an internal rewrite from @acemarke that makes Immer 20% faster overall, with more changes incoming that will push it to 40%. (and some scenarios even 70% faster). github.com/immerjs/immer/rel…

Ukraine is one of the simplest black and white geo-political conflicts. Many conflicts are not so black and white but it is objectively true that Russia invaded Ukraine in an entirely unprovoked & illegal war of imperial aggression. Anyone who can't see that is immoral.

Bizarre it has been two years already and still ongoing. So much suffering and trauma was poured out over Israeli, Palestinians and Jews alike from that moment.

11yo daughter has been on the phone non-stop for 4 hours straight with one of her Israeli girlfriends for emotional support/ distraction. Interrupted only to go into shelter again. Heartbreaking. (& kids in Gaza will probably be even worse off)

React takes “UI = fn(state)” too far, IMO. You’re required to give ALL your state to React to update the UI. Then it provides escape hatches to give you back things you need, like useRef, useCallback, etc. But what if you never gave React all your state in the first place?

After working for 3 months on AI / LLMs, I can safely say that probably the hardest part of it is getting your stakeholders on the right mental model for them.

Cosigning the below quoted tweet. I understand that this can be offputting for folks who have been mistreated by religious institutions and people, or suffered through broken marriages and homes and thus have a deep distrust of marriage and family. I've met many of you, and it breaks my heart. But there's nothing for you over in the virtual empty calorie sugary replacements that society and corporations are pushing to cater to every basic urge. I'm not in any way a perfect guy or have everything figured out. I just have a lot to be thankful for; my upbringing and parents, a church that I can rest in, and a loving wife and kids/grandkid. I understand not everyone can easily find a path, and there's a lot of hurt and raw wounds out there that get in the way. And of course nothing is perfect, but there's so much wisdom in the time-tested values and model for life. Don't let society tell you otherwise.

Wrote #MobX precisely to be able to separate view and model again, while also boosting performance by leveraging signals (avant la lettre)
I'm right there with Ryan. The architectural and design advantages of the signal model are what I value most in real-world systems. React’s biggest flaw, from the start, has been its mishandling of the model–view relationship. Rather than separating out the model as an independent layer of state, they embedded it directly into the view, effectively rewinding UI architecture to 1978. Ironically, React's early slogan was "just the view layer." But in practice, it smuggled in the model too. The core team didn't acknowledge it, and most early adopters didn’t realize it. Fewer still understood the long-term consequences. React’s history is full of attempts to work around this flaw, often without naming or admitting it. It's become a poster child for architectural lipstick on a pig. The fallout is predictable: brittle, tightly coupled apps that are overly complicated, hard to modularize, and even harder to scale. Not a problem for toy examples or small apps, but a critical failure point in larger systems. It’s the root issue behind nearly every React project I’ve been asked to help rescue. Performance issues come up too, but even those often stem from this same foundational mistake.

Here's a fun & little known fact — We built a custom reconciler for @reactjs to render the Battlefield UI (and FIFA & NHL UI too) inside the EA Frostbite Game Engine. So yes — we used React & MobX (@mweststrate) for state management in games at @EA.
Holy CRAP! Battlefield 1 is using React MobX for the game UI 🤯😱

Here is some truth: Putin invaded Ukraine. NATO is the most successful military alliance in history. Since 1945, American leadership has ensured freedom and security for ourselves and millions of others around the world. Together with our allies, we defeated the Soviet Union—an empire so evil it had to build gulags and walls to keep its own people in. Destroying America’s alliances and abandoning the cause of freedom is morally and strategically indefensible. Putin will pocket Trump’s naive concessions and demand much more. Appeasement makes a wider war more likely, not less. @realDonaldTrump, @JDVance, and @elonmusk have made clear who they are. Only fools—or Kremlin tools—would abandon NATO, side with Russia, and demand Ukraine surrender in the face of Putin’s brutal aggression.
