Anyone can be a victim of domestic or sexual violence and abuse, irrespective of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or background. Men often not only find it harder to come forward, due to stigma, but to be taken seriously and access the support services they need.

.@Justice_NI Minister @naomi_long & @healthdpt Minister Mike Nesbitt met with @CVOCNI Geraldine Hanna on Supporting Male Victims of Domestic Abuse Day to discuss the services required by male victims of domestic & sexual abuse.

Being Lord Mayor of Belfast is a genuine privilege: it offers the opportunity to connect and celebrate with every community in our city. Intimidating or threatening any Lord Mayor is an attack, not on any political party, but on the office and the City. Completely unacceptable.
🚨⚠️NEW: Death threats made against Sinn Féin Belfast Mayor Róis-Máire Donnelly 🎤🎥Mayor @RoismairedSF has told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that she does not feel "100 per cent safe", but made clear the threats will not stop her from doing her job. Also hearing from First Minister @moneillsf and joined by MLA @DeirdreHargey. This comes as the clean-up from last night's violent disorder continues. The PSNI informed the Mayor that threats had been made against her life and advised her to take additional personal security precautions.

If my political values were so threadbare, so lacking in any humanity, that where others see a tragic and barbaric attack, I could only see an opportunity for political point scoring as base as this, I'd be ashamed, not advertising it for all to see.
For all those who were screaming there would be public disorder if there was even one check at the border, this one is for you 😡 Sinn Fein, Alliance and SDLP open border policy laid bare.

RT @VictimSupportNI: We are shocked and saddened by last night's disorder in Belfast. If you are affected by hate crime over the coming day…

The horrific attack that left a man with life-altering injuries disturbed us all. But attacking innocent people, forcing families from their homes, damaging property and assaulting police is inexcusable and helps nobody.

The appalling attack in North Belfast must be wholeheartedly condemned. There's no place for this violence on our streets, and my thoughts are with the victim and their family. We must now allow the police to do their jobs to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.

My thoughts this morning are with the victim of last night's horrific attack in North Belfast, and with their family, the brave people who disarmed the attacker and the PSNI who attended and will now investigate. There can be no place for such violence in our community. >

I would also ask people not to share the very graphic images and footage of the attack. They are deeply disturbing and traumatising to view.

The dynamic duo after Audit Panel earlier. Being a team of two on the Council can have its frustrating moments but I couldn’t ask for a better friend, and Enniskillen could not ask for a stronger ambassador than our Eddie 💪😊 @allianceparty

District Judge Keown said “If we can address the addiction issues, then the risk of reoffending drops dramatically.” The Substance Misuse Court, featured in BBC’s Carl Frampton: On Probation, focuses on root causes, not just the offence. Watch all episodes now on BBC iPlayer.

The protections I'm currently introducing as part of the Justice Bill will create higher penalties for attacks on journalists and other frontline workers. Journalists are vital to a free and fair democratic society. No journalist should face attack, threat or intimidation.
Deeply disturbing that journalists were the targets of stone-throwing and harassment in Scarva yesterday. As Amnesty International’s 2025 research showed, NI remains the most dangerous place in the UK to be a journalist. We need action by police and leadership from politicians.

The annual @RUCGCFoundation service is always a moving day. This year, we brought Michael's mum. Her dad was in the RUC and she grew up living in police stations in Ballymoney, Dundrum and Newcastle. A wonderful service to remember those who served and their families.
An honour and a privilege to attend the annual service for RUC GC Day Service at St Mark's, Armagh with @naomi_long I was particularly pleased that my Mum could come along as her Dad served in the RUC

Carla, the crowd you were playing to were wearing masks and shouting abuse. You've yet to condemn it but have taken the time to criticise @SorchaEastwood. Maybe, as an elected rep it's you who needs to do better.
Playing to the crowd when you have none of the facts only serves as click bait. As an elected representative you should do better.
