I thought Colin Firth’s point was that humanity wasn’t capable of extending compassion to aliens (or aliens didn’t deserve it) and that Colman Domingo’s point was that we deserved the opportunity to try. I’m cynical about our capacity for compassion but I understand the intent.
I really had an issue with how people were so emotional towards the alien in any given situation cause it just wasn’t warranted in any way in the movie
