Had a great opportunity to address the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session in Vilnius.
My key message was clear: a stronger Europe with greater military capabilities does not exclude a sustained American commitment.
Neither Europe nor North America can guarantee transatlantic security alone. We reinforce each other and make one another stronger!
At the #NATOPAVilnius Spring Session, the Assembly adopted a declaration in support of a more resilient and stronger transatlantic Alliance. The declaration was presented by Sir @AlecShelbrooke, NATO PA Vice-President.

#NATOPA President, @MarcosPerestre1: "I strongly condemn Russia’s reckless incursion into Romanian territory. Our Assembly stands in full solidarity with Romania and with those injured in the recent drone strike in Galați. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine must end. So too must its provocations, destabilization campaigns, and reckless disregard for civilian safety. As Allies, we must continue to strengthen our deterrence and defence posture on #NATO’s eastern flank in response to the growing Russian threat.
At the NATO PA Spring Session in #Vilnius, we will discuss how to enhance our readiness to deter and defend against any threat, including from drones."
A strong line-up of leaders and experts will take the stage at #NATOPAVilnius. Over the course of 3 days, parliamentarians, experts, and senior political and security leaders will debate the key challenges facing the Alliance and the priorities for ensuring a stronger and more ready #NATO.

At the @GLOBSEC Forum, @JavierMaroto advocated for a greater transatlantic burden-shifting, with European Allies taking greater responsibility for their own security, spending more on defence and strengthening their defence industrial base, while underlining that continued American leadership remains indispensable to the Alliance.
NATO PA members @valasekt and @PRB_Raimond contributed actively to the @GLOBSEC Forum in Prague.
From strengthening societal resilience and cohesion to addressing the security implications of the growing alignment between Russia and China, their parliamentary perspectives helped shape key debates on Euro-Atlantic security in the run up to the NATO Spring Session in Vilnius.
