I feel like it has gone from being quite simplistic, colorful and friendly, to being very grimdark, graphic and, at times, gory, to much more generic and mass-market, but I am not sure if that is true - the later Phyrexia set(s) still features grisly stuff...

...but it just isn't as dark as some of the older cards. Was it just the edgy 2010's? Is it a conscious change or just how modern fantasy art has changed, or am I just wrong?
