We couldnāt be more grateful and proud. Developing and running The Bridge is a huge privilege. Today marks a year since the shelter opened. We celebrate the amazing team, staff and clients who are in the space while we continue to work to realize housing for all.
If we really want to tackle this crisis & create housing that people can afford, hereās the ābest adviceā from a province taking action: āDonāt make it about left or right, bring everybody to the tableā incl non profits, homelessness activists & free market thinkers. #housing4all
ALT The image appears to be an informational poster or digital flyer related to an educational program at Dalhousie University. The upper portion of the image features the black and gold color scheme of the university and includes a neon sign style text that reads "Did you know?". Below this is a yellow box with black text providing details about a specific program at the university. It reads:
"THE COMMUNITY-ENGAGED SERVICE LEARNING (CESL) PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO 2ND YEAR MEDICAL STUDENTS AT DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY.
ROUGHLY 50% OF THE CLASS CHOOSES TO PARTICIPATE EACH YEAR!"
Next to the yellow box is a QR code with the instruction "Scan to learn more", suggesting that more information can be obtained by scanning the code with a smartphone or similar device.
The lower half of the image shows a photograph of a group of people at what seems to be an event related to the program. The group is posing for a photo with smiles, and one person is holding a smartphone, taking a picture of the group.
And itās a Christmas wrap!
With super generous support from individuals, families, workplaces & businesses, weāve packed up & delivered gift bags for 950 adults and children.
Taking a moment to thank all the folkswho helped make it happen ā¤ļø including many community partners.
This news fills us up.
Seven clients supported by our outreach team signed leases this week. Itās wild and unusual. A good mixture of private, non profit and public housing.
One of the seven has been staying in hotel for more than a year. Weāre so excited for them all.
Dropped in to The Hub @ShelterNS to visit a few clients and saw this.
Hot meals and drinks, showers and laundry service and great people supporting those who come in.
Thanks for being a sanctuary from the cold this winter and making people feel at home.
