Really nice geonarrative about two separate programs at the #USGS, one traditionally focused onshore and the other offshore, that have joined forces to collaborate in the world of lacustrine paleoseismology cmgds.marine.usgs.gov/data/g…

Do you work on slow slipping, blind, or distributed fault systems and want to share how you characterize or model this sometimes cryptic deformation? Yes?!? Then we invite you to submit to our virtual #SSA2021 session! Abstract submission deadline is Jan 13 at 5p Pacific Time.

⬇️ well, there goes my day exploring Iceland remotely! ⬇️ just amazing geomorphology of all types 😍 and active faults 😁😍😍
The National Land Survey of #Iceland have a browsable 2m DEM of the whole country on their website. It's beautiful. Here's Iceland's newest lava flow at Holuhraun (from 2014/15), complete with vents, channels and inflated lobes. atlas.lmi.is/mapview/?applic…

I just *love* that my sister @ArchaeologyAmy and I both use lidar and GIS in our research! It’s so great to be able to help and bounce ideas off each other. 🚨⬇️Check out her new paper on using lidar in Belize to identify archaeological sites! ⬇️🚨
⬇️ Interested in how we can use different #lidar relief visualizations in conjunction with pedestrian survey and modern land use practices to identify ancient settlements 🏡? Check out my recent 🔓open access publication in #RemoteSensing doi.org/10.3390/rs12172838

Ok, prepping for fieldwork and curious about what apps folks use to collect field data related to fault/geomorphic mapping. I’ve used Avenza & FieldMove but some team members suggested ArcGIS Collector may be easier for prep and data transfer? Thoughts? Do I make the change?

And I think I’ve seen this discussion somewhat recently (maybe in the last year?) on geotwitter but I can’t seem to find it.

⬇️ excellent compilation and resource by @pride_of_lowell and @collett_camille ⬇️ Looking forward to the updated NHSM compilation!
Have you ever wanted to know what geologic slip rates are used to calculate the hazard under your bums and the bums of others? Look no further sciencebase.gov/catalog/item…

😍seriously the geomorphology in northern New Mexico is just amazing!! 😍 more fault mapping, this time near glacial moraines near Truchas Peak in the Sangre de Cristo Mtns. Black line is the Picuris-Pecos fault from USGS Qfaults.
