As a direct report I know that getting a vague meeting request from my manager on a Friday is anxiety inducing. As a manager, getting the same vague meeting from a direct report is just as nerve racking. In some ways even more so.

I've started wandering into the #salesforcedeveloper side of Tiktok & it would really have you believe that you have to have certs to get a job. I've only ever held one cert, and only because my employer told me to do it (they were a consultancy, and benefited from it).

As a hiring manager, I don't see having certs as a real developer resume differentiator; there are entirely too many folks with certs who struggle the basics of the day-to-day activities.

The higher level certs (e.g. CTA), or maybe some of the niche certs are sometimes demonstrable of ability - but if you can't talk intelligently about the system (beyond regurgitating boilerplate info), the cert isn't going to really help you get a job.

It’s clearer than ever we need aggressive regulation on housing. That means heavily taxing speculators that buy more than three homes.
Houses should be for housing. It shouldn’t be yet another boondoggle for the 1 percent to extract every penny of value out of the public.
