it’s called “life.” You walk to the store. Maybe you see someone you know on the way. You find a dollar on the ground. The sun shines on your face. You are participating in the world.

Thats a horribly inefficient waste of time. You probably end up spending close to 5 hours just in grocery stores every week if you do this (nevermind the extra hours spent walking there and back as well), when you add up shopping waiting in line. I'd rather just do 2-3 weeks worth of shopping at once in <2hours, drive my groceries right to my front door, and then not have to go to a store again for a few weeks There's a reason no one who gets a license ever uses public transit or walks anywhere ever again if they dont have to - its way worse in every way. Society should be more accommodating to cars, not less. Bike lanes for example, should be illegal

The Pope is a great example of the idea that cruelty is actually dumb and that kindness and openness come from intelligence. A great juxtaposition to the (techno)fascists of our time. It takes a mind to create a better world, it takes zero to destroy it.
The Pope is very intelligent. I have to stop reading the encyclical, because I'm amazed by so much eloquence, intelligence, and care...

here's the thing about DENR (& all politicians in general): they're not dumb for doing any of the evil things they do. they fully KNOW what they're doing but they do it anyway because it would lead to the accumulation of profit. they simply have no regard for people or the planet
kahit kelan tlaga mga bobo mga iniluluklok dyan sa DENR, kung pede lang buhayin ulit si Gina Lopez

I believe this is the cost of waking up in a world being exploited by capitalism & industrialism. Once you see the world for what it is, and you see what the systems of the world are dictating you do with your one life on this planet, the feeling is depressing & enraging
I think there’s something deeply wrong with the way I resent having a job. I know it’s fine morally to not want to be coerced to work for survival, but most people have the ability to suck it up. But I am haunted by the reality of my one life on this planet being owned by others.

Students see no issue using AI to complete their assignment because they have been conditioned to treat schooling as a means to a capitalist end and not a tool for acquiring knowledge. The proliferation of AI is just making this very explicit for those who didn’t already know.
The bluntest comment I've ever read about why students are turning to AI: “What kind of economy and educational system has made a robot feel more viable, attentive, more dialogic, and more intellectually available than the institution charging students for a degree?”

Just live day by day. It's like driving at night. You only need to see as far as your headlights reach. You don't have to spot your final destination from the start. Keep going with what's lit in front of you, and the rest will come as you move. You're seriously underestimating the universe's ability to surprise you and turn things in your favor. But that only happens if you stop overwhelming yourself by trying to figure out your entire life all at once.
Marcus Aurelius wrote this over 1800 years ago: “Do not disturb yourself by imagining your whole life at once.”

Watching these people review "chicken inasal" as experts, yet can't properly pronounce "paa". 🤷 Sorry, old pet peeve, and I really can't let go of this.

Its genuinely insane how many people from certain countries will be like "oh yeah we had our driver take us to the market" and "our maid got injured so we fired her" like its completely normal to have economic serfs do you bidding
