๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌHAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Celebrating Freedom, Unity & Democratic Values ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ Today, we join millions of Nigerians in celebrating Democracy Day, a day that honours the sacrifices, resilience, and aspirations of those who fought for democratic governance and the rule of law in our nation. Democracy is often described as government of the people, by the people, and for the people. At its core, it is founded on the principles of justice, equity, participation, respect for human rights, and accountability. The strength of any democracy lies not merely in elections, but in the protection of the rights, dignity, and welfare of every citizen. As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria while safeguarding the democratic values that unite us as a people. Happy Democracy Day from the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP)! ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ ๐“๐“ข๐“Ÿ ๐“Ÿ๐“ก ๐“ฃ๐“ฎ๐“ช๐“ถ

The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP) proudly congratulates one of our distinguished members, Professor Efe Useh, on being honoured with the prestigious World Physiotherapy Africa Region Award, becoming only the second recipient of this continental recognition. Professor Useh, a Nigerian physiotherapist based in South Africa, received the award during the recently concluded World Physiotherapy Africa Region Congress, held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 5โ€“6 June 2026. His recognition reflects decades of outstanding contributions to physiotherapy education, research, leadership, and professional development across Africa and beyond. The NSP is particularly proud of Professor Useh, who previously served the Society as its National Public Relations Officer (PRO), and whose achievements continue to inspire physiotherapists across Nigeria and the African continent. It is also noteworthy that the first recipient of the World Physiotherapy Africa Region Award was another distinguished Nigerian, Pa Dr. Thompson Abayomi Oshin, the first trained African physiotherapist and the pioneer of physiotherapy practice in Nigeria. Dr. Oshin remains a towering figure in the history of the profession and is set to celebrate his 100th birthday on 30 July 2026. That the first two recipients of this prestigious African award are Nigerians is a testament to Nigeriaโ€™s enduring contributions to the growth, advancement, and leadership of physiotherapy in Africa. The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy celebrates these remarkable achievements and remains proud of the legacy and excellence they represent. Dr. Oyinlola Felix Odusanya President Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy
