Amazing use of mathematical language 2SF! 🌟 In every @MathsMastery lesson pupils are given Star Words and have the opportunity to use those words and given sentences in Talk Tasks. Learn more about the subject excellence programme and the subsidy currently available: mathematicsmasteryprimary12.…

2SF's confidence and use of mathematical language shines through in their maths @ArkCurriculum lessons. Here is a short example of one of the children discussing fractions in a partner task. Amazing work 2SF! @AETAcademies

This is one of the most fascinating articles I've read about how experts scaffold learning for novices. It's a bit heavy, so I'm listing the 12 main findings. link.springer.com/10.1007/s1…

How many ways can you find to show that 10 tens are equivalent to one hundred? Year 4 used their maths toolkits to explain their understanding of place value excellently this afternoon #readytoprogress #enquiry #ncetm

There’s just great value in exploring the language of maths. It’s a great assessment tool too. The children enjoyed the activity and became intrigued. The lesson that followed was a success. Not surprising with Numicon!

Numicon is such a versatile and simple resource to help us develop our numeracy skills. Here we were using them to check our doubling. We could also add a 10 block to then use our 10 facts to work out the value shown. #SaltounP123 #MathsWeekScot #numicon

In Year 3 we have been rotating Numicon shapes. Lots of discussion about direction and how much the shape rotates. #OUPPrimary #NUMICON

Today P1a read the story ā€˜10 little dinosaurs’ šŸ¦–šŸ¦• we were so good at counting forwards & backwards that we decided to use the storyšŸ“–(& our imagination) to pretend that we had ten little dinosaurs to play with, counting them on & off the 10 @Numicon! @MathsScot @MathsStories

We’ve been working really hard on partitioning numbers and remembering the value of each of our digits. We tried 3 tiles, 3 mins @DavisonMiss (thank you!) as our starter today- children loved it and heard so many brilliant discussions. šŸ‘šŸ˜ƒ @StAnnesAncoats
