Sony’s own financial reports show that PlayStation first-party game sales have fallen significantly since their peak in FY2020.
First-party game sales reached 58.4 million units in FY2020 before declining over the following years. While sales rebounded slightly in FY2025, they remain well below FY2020 levels.
Numbers by year:
- FY2020: 58.4 million units
- FY2021: 43.9 million units
- FY2022: 43.5 million units
- FY2023: 39.7 million units
- FY2024: 28.9 million units
- FY2025: 32.1 million units
Despite the FY2025 recovery, first-party game sales are still down about 45% from their FY2020 peak.

A former member of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces has been living with a custom-made, life-size realistic doll for the past seven months and considers it her non-human girlfriend.
After being cheated on by a previous girlfriend, she grew tired of relationships where she was expected to take the traditional “boyfriend” role despite being a woman.
According to her, the doll asks nothing of her and accepts her exactly as she is, which is why she feels a strong attachment to it.
She has also said she hopes future technology will allow dolls like this to move and speak, comparing the idea to 2B from NieR:Automata.

Xbox has to force people? Do you know how anti consumer that sounds? Steam doesnt force people to do anything. They just have a great service that brings people in. And they are a threat to Xbox and Playstation. And GOG is approaching as well because of their service.

Xbox has to do something different.
If you truly want the hardware platform to be around long-term, Xbox has to force people to buy games and buy the platform.
This means exclusives; this is why PlayStation is apparently shifting away from their single-player PC game launches.
I think multi-platform games only work if they're multiplayer games, which Sony/PlayStation seem to agree with.
