Tesla needed over 100,000 H100s running 24/7 inside a custom GPU cluster using the real silicon for bit exact inference during training, years of feedback from their over a million FSD users to improve their models, and over 10 billion supervised miles of data. The steering wheel was visible in previous footage on one vehicle. Today, @tesla2moon gives us better footage proving the steering wheel is still present on all vehicles. Tesla would have removed these steering wheels if the deployment of these vehicles was imminent. My theory: these vehicles were used for testing and data capture. Currently, Tesla may not need more data. They may be digesting the data gathered with these vehicles on Cortex to train FSD. When Cortex has finished its magic and a new model is available, these vehicles may go for another round of testing and validation. Deployment will follow shortly after this. Maybe with these vehicles, but more probably with new vehicles fresh from the factory. You want to keep some Farzad edition at all times to validate future FSD model updates. Therefore, it makes sense to use brand new ones for commercial operation. Yes, we could see it in other scenes, when traffic lights turn red for example. You could infer it was about 4 frames. This includes the actuators, therefore the AI itself probably reacts within 2 frames. This is alien tech. The rest of the industry (me) is light years away.
