In today’s Vatnik Soup, I’ll introduce how the Elon’s Election Interference Machine™ (EIM) works. Since Musk & his broligarch allies won the presidency for Trump, they’ve now harnessed the machine to interfere in European elections, including the ones in Germany & Romania. 1/23

How to choose the best tool for starting a new project: 1. Toss a coin 2. While the coin is in the air, realize that the tool doesn't matter: what you are experiencing is Resistance 3. Find your courage, ignore the consequence of success, and start, 4. And start, again and again

Something clicked last summer — with a lot of help from the team at @Numtide — and now I'm using Nix pretty much everywhere… in development. Next up: everywhere in production!

Also… send help. I'm developing opinions about Flakes. Does anyone else think the schema here is… backwards? Feels like I'm taking crazy pills, but so much abstraction in flakes seems to be working around the system not being at the leaf of the tree…

Like, in none of my projects do I want the *existence* of a package or devShell to depend on the system. Implementation details may vary, depending on the inputs… so why not push that case down a level? Surely this has been deliberated elsewhere?

Talked to another team today practicing WTF@1. Pretty sure this is the most common method for measuring relevancy.

Explaining the joke: the 'measurement' is "WTF isn't [thing I expect] showing up in search." Acutely experienced when some product is not selling nearly as well as expected during a big, expensive promotional campaign… because nobody can find it.

I am torn between wanting everyone to get the full benefit of Ashandelle's brilliance… and wanting to keep them all to myself ❤️
I’m not supposed to have a favorite client but you always love your first, right? Anyways, go follow Ashandelle. DONT MAKE ME KEEP ASKING

Working with Ashandelle is like living in Austin. It's hot, rainy, wet, sometimes frozen, located in Texas, expensive houses, great bars, better restaurants, amazing parks, bad traffic, great BBQ, and you should all definitely stop moving here, please… I'm begging you…

There are so many ways to search — interfaces to design, features to identify, data pipelines to scale, results to grade. If you or someone you know likes to write, and is experienced or just curious with search, and wants some paid work in that intersection, send them my way!

Seems like this kind of team structure would be a bit… sluggish.

Real-time social co-creation is probably the biggest superpower for focus and productivity than any other solo system I've tried. (Pomodoro, etc.) Programmers who practice pairing and mobbing know this. I wonder how broadly it's used in other disciplines. (Content? Design?)

Classic problem when tuning a recommendation algorithm. Position bias: The top result is the top result because it’s the top result.
