The Ohio General Assembly has passed HB 105—a meaningful win for Ohio's business climate! Currently, outside investors can secretly fund lawsuits in exchange for a cut of the proceeds. These hidden arrangements drag out litigation, inflate costs, and make it harder to reach fair settlements. HB 105 doesn't ban the practice. It brings it into the open. For Ohio businesses, a predictable civil justice system isn't just a legal issue—it's an economic one. When litigation is weaponized by undisclosed financial interests, everyone pays. House Bill 292 is headed to the Governor’s desk! The legislation creates the Ohio Defense and Space Advisory Commission, a public-private body. For Ohio's business community, this means a structured, state-level effort to attract defense contracts, aerospace investment, and the high-quality jobs that come with them.
