1) This is a nice, classy speech. 2) This is what was lost on a lot of the election night telly, where there was far too much chat and not enough counts.

Here’s my first attempt at getting to grips with this complex election for the Observer: Labour have played a masterful game of electoral jenga. But how stable will the teetering Commons tower be? theguardian.com/politics/art…

Age was once again a key dividing line in how people voted. I’ve been banging on about the UK voting age gap for years now and could talk about it for hours, but luckily for you here’s a little summary of my research so far: psa.ac.uk/psa/news/widening-…

He who controls the past doesn't necessarily control the future. General election vote by age c/o @LordAPolls

Some truth in this. In 116 seats the Lib Dem vote went up and the Lab vote when down In 293 seats the Lab vote went up and the Lib Dem vote when down Where voters coordinated around the Lib Dems they made 45 gains And where voters coordinated around Labour they made 162 gains
Seeing a lot of growing hysteria about Labour’s vote share. Overstated. This was the election where tactical voting finally happened in significant numbers. And it didn’t happen by accident. Was a major plank of Starmer’s strategy.

First result in. Labour up on 2019 but down on 2017; and Reform up on Ukip 2015. Tories worse than 1997. Based on redistricted data with @gbhgis
