At OPG's Wesleyville site in Port Hope, we're boring deep into the ground to assess the site for its potential nuclear future. As part of the first phase of the project's Impact Assessment, OPG is working with E.S. Fox, Indigenous-owned Voyageur Services, and other local companies to conduct a geotechnical and hydrogeological borehole campaign. The geotechnical campaign aims to bore at 40 locations across the site, reaching depths of between 60 to 120 metres, and is expected to wrap up later this summer. Other ongoing work includes surveys of the area’s vegetation, birds, and wildlife, aquatic and surface-water assessments, as well as archaeological, socio-economic, and traffic studies. This important work is helping advance a potential project that could provide up to 10,000 MW of new nuclear generation for Ontario's clean energy future. Learn more: opg.com/wesleyville

Ontario is at a pivotal moment. Electricity demand is rising as our economy grows, while global uncertainty underscores the need for a secure, reliable supply of Ontario‑made power. Today’s support for pre‑development work on the Bruce C project is an important milestone and reflects a responsible, forward‑looking approach to energy planning. We appreciate the support of the Government of Ontario, and ongoing engagement with Indigenous and local communities who continue shape the path forward for the project.

Ontario is undertaking one of the largest nuclear expansions in the world, creating 150,000 good-paying jobs and powering our economic growth.   The Bruce C nuclear project is central to that plan. This build will support nearly 19,000 jobs during construction and provide enough power for nearly 5 million homes.
