14/ KV: How do you distinguish cultural value from momentum in a market where attention, price, and narrative all move together? M: The first signal is time. The 2022-23 drawdown was a very clean filter for the market. Those that survived best now have staying power and are beginning to become more Lindy. Closely related to timing is who is buying - collectors with long-term conviction, liquidity, market experience. Momentum traders don't tend to show the same traits as long-term conviction collectors. Underneath that, there are quality signals that tell you whether the work is strong enough to build cultural value. Is it clearly by a certain artist and coherent within their wider work? Does the work have supply discipline while supporting a healthy collector base? Is it legible to a non-web3 audience. Does it innovate and is the work secure. If you can find artworks that tick across several of these signals, I think you're onto something that will still be relevant and desired in years to come. Thank you to the teams at @NFCsummit and @100collectors. No where else feels more like home than this NFT, Digital, Contemporary Art community. Lisbon was overflowing with artists, collectors, and builders who give many fucks even when everything around us is burning, we shine our light, together. @johnkarp & @redbeardnft are right, we need to move to make a movement. So let’s keep going and never give up on art ✊ We are watching worlds and careers being built on the timeline day by day. In person is when it all clicks and connects. You can feel the life and passion that the x algo cannot express or replicate. We are seen with views, but are we heard with the heart? Listening to @Operator____ (@aniacatherine & @dejhati) made me want to move and dance like the work and systems they built. Their concepts are high and complex, yet deep and powerful. It’s been a joy to watch them perform through their acts from 2022 to now. Much respect to the team on the ground who are with us in the trenches everyday at @opensea, the homies @adamilenich & @balon_art, representing so many artists and events from punks to Xcopy gatherings to the brilliance of @dotjiwa and @EfdotStudio rallying the community with their generative and fun works. They bring us deeper into their worlds to co create with them as a part of the art and performance. NFTs are the IRl and on-chain interactions! Coming from Paris with @MarleneCorbun and @Danae__io just a few days prior and now enjoying an infinity room by @eko3316 shows us just how flexible galleries and curators can be in many forms and styles, countries and cities! It’s an honor to be their artist and a privilege to support everyone else in their roster. Because through the art, we become friends and family. I believe in reciprocity, because that’s the fuel that makes this world go around and around as long as we let the crypto and energy flow…. On my last day in Lisbon in the heart of the conference and someone who has a lot of love and has become the heart of the art space, @AdamWeitsman, shared his insights, stories, and his time with us all. Watching him go from booth to booth connecting with everyone that goes to say hello and interested in what each person has to say with a big smile on his face on what art they are creating teaches us how to be more human, grounded, and humble. To be kind and gracious. Because when you love something you give it your all! And you can feel that when you’re around him. Let us all follow his lead to slow down, listen, and always do our best!
