Eric's candidacy is the antidote to a political class that can no longer grasp or debate the issues. It's refreshing to see a politician that can point out what doesn't work with real fixes, open debate, and optimism. Good luck @EricDLombardi on your leadership run from BC
This pathetic attitude is among the worst things about our political culture in Canada and I cannot reject it enough. It gets cloaked in the language of progressivism but it is deeply cynical, ugly, and regressive. Story time! Growing up, I was hugely inspired by RIM (BlackBerry). It was one of the reasons why I wanted to go to Waterloo. I thought it was so cool one of the most innovative companies on earth was an hour away from home. In fact, my program, Nanotechnology Engineering, was able to exist in part due to the philanthropy of Mike Lazaridis, who funded the Institute of Quantum Computing and Nanotechnology (along with the Perimeter Institute for theoretical physics, which is a brilliant asset for the province and country). Balsillie, for his part, has spent tens of not hundreds of millions of his personal wealth on advocacy and institutions to make Canada a better place. But he too was castigated in our media. Through high school, I saw how Canadas media took an axe to RIM founders (Mike and Jim), and basically cheered on the decline of the business against competition from Apple and Google. It was a complete disgrace. Well, in 2013 I got my second co-op job there, just as they rolled out BB10 (the QNX operating system). 6 weeks into my co-op, my entire department was laid off (Modems/Semiconductors). Nearly every one of my colleagues ended up moving to the US. Some of the most capable talent on earth, poached in weeks. It was loss that was absolutely devastating to witness. I have no doubt people like Bruce cheered on the spectacle, just like he would cheer the downfall of Shopify if it were to ever happen; despite the champion it’s been for the country, the thousands of good jobs it’s created, and all the spin-off businesses that have created huge wealth for Ontario. Well let me be clear that I will have none of this nonsense.

This is without a leader, caucus, or ideas being presented to the public. As a low watermark, it’s very encouraging to see that Liberals would replace the Greens who have been the third party for 25 years in BC. And that’s on day one.

Mayor Locke cut over $40M from policing and froze hiring. Then she sent a press release demanding the Police Board explain the shortage she created. That’s not leadership. That’s blaming those trying to keep us safe. @MikeStarchuk has a plan for #SafeStreets #SurreyBC

Last night 'Light Rail' @LindaAnnisBC proposed more of her cuts. This time she voted against rapid transit. Her proposal is to tear up our roads for expensive, slow moving trains. She just doesn't get what we need. We need rapid transit not cuts and casinos. #SurreyBC

Gangs and foreign agents have unlimited access to crypto ATMs and casinos to launder their dirty money. It was already easy enough to commit their crimes. And then the Mayor cut the police budget. Enough is enough. We need #SafeStreets for a change.

Surrey is on track for over 600 extortion cases this year. The rules are rigged in favour of the extortionists. It’s time to cut off their supply at the source. No more police cuts. No more casinos. #SafeStreets #SurreyBC #CrushExtortion cc @Ashiana_khan

One candidate has been showing up for 30 years to keep Surrey safe. As a firefighter. As Chief Fire Inspector. As a City Councillor. And as an MLA. Now he’s ready to serve as our next Mayor: Mike Starchuk @MikeStarchuk #SurreyBC #BCPoli #ChangeThatWorksForYou #CityOfChampions #SafeStreets

Surrey families need fast responses when they call 911. They aren't getting it under a Mayor who cuts policing during an extortion crisis. Only one candidate has spent 3 decades showing up to keep Surrey families safe: Mike Starchuk. #safestreets #SurreyBC
