My wife left me home alone with the kids to go out drinking with her friends. A lesser man might whine and complain, but instead I'm just playing Chumbawamba's 1997 hit "Tubthumping" over and over and over. On the jukebox at their bar. Using the TouchTunes app.

This policy initiative is not, as best I can tell, being done in coordination with government of Mexico. Accordingly, if it is successful, the victims of the initiative would become stateless. It is a terrible thing.
This story is somewhat different from the stories of the past year about denaturalization. It involves placing in dispute the citizenship of birthright citizens--people who have documentation that they were born on American soil--by asserting they were actually born in Mexico.
These actions (denying passports, stripping citizenship, rendering ppl stateless) are what you see in countries notorious for perpetrating abuses against their own people, especially religious and ethnic minorities. Can it happen here? It can and is.
The Trump administration is accusing hundreds, and possibly thousands, of Hispanics along the border of using fraudulent birth certificates since they were babies, and it is undertaking a widespread crackdown on their citizenship. wapo.st/2PNIf68
