🎶World premiere 🌍
It was a real joy to perform “Nothing gold can stay”, a new work by Áine Mallon, at Cheltenham Music Festival yesterday.
Composed as a response to “Faire is the rose” by Orlando Gibbons, Áine’s piece received its premiere in a programme of music by Gibbons.
I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers 🎶
Taking over from Sofi Jeannin in autumn 2026 is an honour. She’s done such inspiring work with the group since 2018, and I’m grateful to follow in her footsteps.

How many ways can you fall off the Albert Hall stage? – and other thoughts running through my head before conducting for the first time @bbcproms. Bruckner motets before Berlin Phil play his fifth symphony. Listen in from 7.30pm this evening. 📻
