Day 3 of VBS 2026 and the energy is electric! But what’s happening spiritually is even better. Hundreds of children are hearing the gospel. Kids are falling in love with the church. And we are casting a Great Commission. The Lord is at work! @HighviewBaptist

Pastors should be thinking about how God might use their churches and the Southern Baptist Convention not only now but 100 years from now, Jimmy Scroggins said at the SBC Pastors’ Conference June 8 in Orlando. baptistpress.com/resource-li…

Always enjoy seeing many of these pastor-theologians at the SBC annual meeting!
Southern Seminary's PhD program prepares both scholars and pastor-theologians to strengthen the church. As the highest level of theological study, the PhD is grounded in a rigorous academic tradition and aimed toward service in Christ's church. Here students are equipped to teach, defend, and treasure the truth that shapes God's people. Whether in the lecture hall or the pulpit, the calling is the same. If God has called you to strengthen the church, this is where that calling is sharpened. vist.ly/56xwr

With graduation coming up this Friday we are looking forward to celebrating what God has done in the lives of this class. This year’s graduates are stepping forward across a wide range of ministry contexts. Many are already serving in local churches or have accepted calls to ministry. Others are preparing for pastoral and ministry leadership as well as parachurch organizations, chaplaincy, biblical counseling, and mission work and more. Each path reflects years of preparation marked by study, formation, and a shared desire to serve the church with clarity and faithfulness. We look forward to celebrating graduation with you in just a few days!

Wisdom from my Dad about the priority of marriage and family.
In this episode of Akin Huddle, Danny Akin offers a clear word to students and pastors. If you must choose between excelling in school and being present at home, choose your family. Degrees will not define your legacy. Faithfulness in your marriage and with your children will.

In episode 7 of Akin Huddle guest, @davidpollack47 , three-time All-American at the University of Georgia, former Cincinnati Bengal, and author of Every Day Counts @bhpub , speaks directly to parents. Leadership in the home cannot be outsourced. Faith cannot be reduced to words while priorities say something else. Sports will end. Schedules will change. But what is modeled in the home will remain. More is caught than taught. If Christ is central, it will be seen. If he is not, that will be seen. Watch the conversation and join the huddle.

Outstanding sermon from Luke 10 from Dr. York! So grateful for him, his friendship, and influence in my life.
" Don't dress up your life with degrees and achievements and accomplishments and be empty because you don't spend time listening to your Savior." In chapel, Dr. Hershael W. York, Dean of the School of Theology, preached from Luke 10 showing that both the Pharisee and Martha missed what mattered most. One tried to limit obedience, the other was distracted by it, and both failed to focus on Christ. Devotion to Jesus must come first. Everything else follows from there.

A timely word for parents with kids that play sports.
Travel sports will compete for your family’s time. What you prioritize will shape what your children believe. On Akin Huddle, Danny Akin warns that when Christ is optional on Sundays, your children will see him as less central in their lives. Make Christ the priority.

Low fertility rates is a growing crisis around the world (especially in so-called “Christian” nations). Islam is growing around the world through fertility rates. The Bible has a lot to say about the blessing of children.
Episode 3 features Jon Akin’s story of faith, ministry, & family. The conversation asks whether children are a burden or a blessing and reflects on parenting, sacrifice, and the lasting joy of investing in the next generation. Tune in and join the huddle: vist.ly/4u2h7

Thankful for what my Dad and Mom modeled in the home growing up.
Many parents ask what shapes a Christian home. On Akin Huddle, Danny Akin says his approach was simple. Teach your kids to love Jesus, and make your home a joyful place to be. Faith, laughter, and everyday moments helped point their sons to Christ.

Great couple! Glad to have them here with us.
For Reagan and Lauren Lotze, one visit changed everything. They came to Preview Day with questions, hesitations, and with a love for the life they were might be leaving in Texas. They left with clarity about God’s direction and a deep sense that this was where they were meant to be. On April 17, you can do the same. Attend a class. Meet current students and talk with faculty. Spend the day exploring campus and the local church community that surrounds it. See how the Lord is shaping marriages, ministries, and lifelong friendships here. Prayer is the foundation! Love our students hearts for the nations!
Throughout February and March, the Jenkins Center has welcomed faculty, students, and staff each weekday to pray for the salvation of over 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide during Ramadan. This dedicated time of intercession reminds us that the gospel is for every people and every nation. As Muslims observe Ramadan, we ask God to draw many to the hope and salvation found in Christ. Join us in the Jenkins Center this week and next as we continue to pray for the advance of the gospel among Muslim peoples.

What I think I treasure most about @DrTomSchreiner is the union of a world class New Testament scholar and preacher who can simplify the text in a beautiful and profound way that a child could understand it. A beautiful sermon today at @SBTS from Mark 5: 1-20.
