DOD rambling following a private DM today. People ask "when is the last time you only had to process a single item" ? That is fair. But you should also ask "when is the last time you had to process ALL of the items" ? I don't know for you, but for me, rarely.

Ah, the amount of pain people endure these days to avoid writing a for loop

Can you spot the undefined behavior? Back to doing some C with Eigen. Just wanted to transform some points, and this one had me scratching my head for a while. Solution in next tweet (thanks to my colleague @w1th0utnam3 for pointing out the problem!) 🧵 1/4

Coding style that prefers very short functions leads to very deep call stacks. It's also hard to follow when you are reading code. Have to jump around the code base too much. Melts your brain. Linear code is easier to read and as a bonus also faster for the CPU to execute.

Before zx81 arrived I was convinced I would never be able to afford a computer. Thanks, #CliveSinclair, I wonder if you ever fully realized how big an impact you made.
Sir Clive Sinclair, the creator of the Zx Spectrum has passed away. His influence on the UK games industry was huge. How many of today's developers coded on one of the machines he developed?

On this day in 1947, Secretary of State Marshall surprised his audience at Harvard University by delivering one of the most consequential speeches of the 20th Century. People expected non-political remarks, after all it was an acceptance speech for his honorary degree.
