Why to never trust a leftist on Savarkar-Bhagat Singh relations?
The below has been excavated for the first time ⬇️
You might have seen a 1924 quote from Bhagat Singh : "A lover of universal love is the brave individual whom we have no hesitation in calling an awesome rebel, an uncompromising anarchist – the same Veer Savarkar, who pacing in his lawn thinking about universal love, would stop walking on the grass, lest he crushed the tender grass under his feet"
What is the source of Bhagat Singh's statement? It is Savarkar's own writings published in Echo in the Andamans in 1924.
That very year Bhagat Singh calls Savarkar 'Veer' and mentions this grass reference as directly as he could.
Bhagat Singh used to consume any and every literature associated with Savarkar. This went on till his prison days. He was much more of an admirer than even the RW thinks him to be. Leftists on the other hand will never get this reference because all they invest in is Savarkar's criticism.
I will proudly claim all these findings because I was willing to approach Savarkar without the tinted glasses. Bhagat Singh read all of Savarkar's available literature: Life of Barrister Savarkar (written on him by a pseudonymous author), Hindu Pad Padshahi (in prison), IWI 1857 (In Lahore Days), Echo in the Andamans.
He also read through secondary sources and mentioned an incident of Dhingra-Savarkar. He made Savarkar's biography a precondition for entry in the HSRA. He published the fourth edition of Savarkar's book IWI. He also published Savarkar's article in the Shraddhanand 'The Real Meaning of Terror'. How else do you ascertain if a man was impressed by someone else?
