at candle, each person has a list with the 3 most important things to get done that day extra tasks ordered by priority. before we used the notes app, but @parthematics built a super simple open source tool for us to stay organized, unfinished tasks roll over automatically each day and you can access what you need to get done quicker

new update submitted! for the past few days we’ve been working hard on translations across the entire app
it’s actually pretty difficult to get everything right across all surfaces, prompts, push notifications, onboarding, labels, paywalls, and even app store screenshots all had to be translated
we’ll be expanding to many more languages soon. if you catch anything off or broken, lmk!

today is candle’s 1 year birthday! 🎂 we officially launched on the app store one year ago
here’s the journey so far:

- $2m annualized revenue
- $1.2m arr
- sub 8% monthly churn
- full time team of 3
personally super grateful for the team and the incredible talent that made this possible. It is crazy to think how far we’ve come in just a year

this is why the majority of our team’s eng time nowadays is spent planning. building great architecture is challenging, and the ability to communicate maintainable software practices clearly has never been more important
it’s never been easier to submit an app to the app store, but keeping software simple and maintainable will decide the longevity of these apps (how frequently they can update, support new features, refactor, etc.)

im fully convinced that LLMs are not an actual net productivity boost (today)
they remove the barrier to get started, but they create increasingly complex software which does not appear to be maintainable
so far, in my situations, they appear to slow down long term velocity

we started averaging ~30–40 support emails a day, takes us roughly 1-2 hrs per day for @parthematics and me to respond to all of them, so we built an internal tool to handle customer support faster.
