instagram.com/p/DZYA9wDlhhJ/… Cometh the hour…. Who wants to play in a poxy football tournament anyway? Though it was be an amusing twist on the usual for an England footballer to be injured before a tournament by playing cricket

Amused to see that Emma Raducanu won her first set at Queen’s 6-0 in just 20 minutes against a Russian called Blinkova. The best case of nominative determinism in tennis since Katie Volynets failed to put away a mid-court chance.

It's become impossible to enjoy any success that the England cricket team has if you have tickets for Day 4 of a Test match. Would it be too much to ask for a full day of rain tomorrow?

Ten days ago I bought 30 bottles of wine from Majestic. Just received an email from them with the subject line “Time to restock?” How thirsty do they think I am?

Wigmore Hall is 125 years old. For the first 15 years it was called the Bechstein Hall after the piano manufacturer whose showroom was next door. But had to change its name in 1916 when the government banned “trading with the enemy”

Most tweets don’t age well. This one, on the other hand… @Blackheath_1858
Now do I read too much into pre-season friendlies and get carried away with optimism, @Blackheath_1858? Two matches against Championship teams, from the division above, ten tries scored, competitive for 70 minutes v Bedford and then beat Richmond 33-14. Encouraging…

I’ve been lucky to have reported on many great sporting events. But nothing beats seeing your side promoted as a fan. So pleased for @Blackheath_1858, who dominated their play-off vs London Scottish and got huge travelling support. Let’s see that in the Championship next season

And while the whole @Blackheath_1858 side are lovely and it’s been such a pleasure to watch them, I’m especially glad that Captain Billy ended his one-match scoring drought to score his 49th try of the season and mixed with the fans afterwards

“Rabbit’s clever,” said Pooh thoughtfully. “Yes,” said Piglet, “Rabbit’s clever.” “And he has Brain.” “Yes,” said Piglet, “Rabbit has Brain.” There was a long silence. “I suppose,” said Pooh, “that that’s why he never understands anything.” ~A.A.Milne

Well there we go. Time to see again how out of synch I am with European music tastes. My top five: Norway, Romania, Italy, Albania, Australia. Suspect GB won’t make the first column but catchy refrain may push it into top 15. Now let’s see democracy get it wrong again

Strong finish this year after a weak start. Norway moves ahead of Italy.

Oh I like the Italy entry. I’d started to nod off and it woke me up. A new favourite, I think
