This is the kind of sleazy politics that turns people off entirely. @fordnation caught behind closed doors saying he will,“open up the #greenbelt”, then publicly saying he will “unequivocally not touch the greenbelt”, to now just opening doing it.
It’s all around wrong. #onpoli
Expanding the island airport was on nobody’s agenda — except some private equity bros in New York
They have obviously spent lavishly on polls, all-level lobbying, and PR, signalling they think they can make a lot of money off us Canadian rubes
They manufactured all of it
Did Ontario just get snookered into a $5 billion airport expansion that no one wants for the benefit of a handful of American investors?
The plot thickens.
(You have to admit, it was odd how this popped back onto the agenda, out of the blue).

So because @fordnation was too stupid to realize Home Depot was closed on Family Day he has to ruin statutory holidays for retail workers that want them off.
I recall the same argument when Ontario began to permit Sunday shopping in the 1990s. “No one will be forced to work on Sundays.” Instead, management just cut our hours and told us “well Sunday is available.”
Bosses will absolutely coerce workers to work. #canlab
NEW - Ontario retailers can open for business this Victoria Day Monday. But what about employees who were looking forward to a day off? “No one is going to force them to work" Minister @stcrawford2 tells me. But the opposition worry workers could still face pressure to show up. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/05/…
NEW: The Ford government tried to quietly close the public feedback period on its new education bill, changing the deadline to submit comments from May 13 to May 4 without notice. They reversed course after we asked why they were limiting public input:

Look out, #TOpoli - @chipadovani is one of the best organizers in the country.
She works night and day, building people power where she lives.
Her 28 nominators are not political props: they're workers and neighbours who have her back, as she has theirs.
This is what an organized community looks like.
This is how we win!
I just registered as a candidate for York South-Weston City Councillor! I’m so honoured and grateful to my amazing 28 nominators including… 1/5…

The Toronto Islands have been a cherished public space for generations — for rest, nature and community in the heart of our largest city. They belong to the people.
The federal government absolutely must use its powers to stop Ford's reckless land grab.
#BREAKING: I've written to Prime Minister Mark Carney, urging him to intervene to stop Doug Ford's Toronto Islands land grab.
While emergency rooms close, grocery prices go up, and workers lose their jobs, Doug Ford’s obsession with Toronto is costing the province.
The federal government can end this today.
Because Avi Lewis cooked Doug Ford and then the ONDP actually found a popular policy position to campaign on that they borrowed from Avi Lewis.
Basically, people like unabashed left wing politics.
NEW: The Ontario government has purchased a used $28.9 million private jet for the use of Premier Doug Ford, the @TorontoStar has learned. The 2016 Bombardier Challenger 650 was delivered this week.

Zohran Mamdani: "If you are a Mario Kart fan, government is Yoshi and philanthropy is the Golden Mushroom, that edge we need to beat Bowser on the Rainbow Road. To belabor this metaphor even further, Bowser is corporate greed in this scenario."
You know, I shouldn't be surprised by the Ford government not knowing how billing would work for these Supervisors. Heck, Calandra himself told @TinaYazdani that he "doesn't pay attention to what their billing is".
Ford and Calandra went into this with no plan for how supervisors would function at the most basic level - billing.
It’s embarrassingly clear that Ontario’s government has no idea what’s actually happening in our classrooms. That’s reflected in their policymaking.
Q: You don't have a seat in parliament... will you be doing what Poilievre did, which is persuading one of your caucus to gently step aside?
Avi Lewis: There is no way I'm asking one of these spectacular people to step aside. Not in a million years.
New Democrats lost a giant of social democracy today.
I'll always remember his barnburner speech at the 2016 convention advocating to push our party to the left.
I'm glad that Stephen Lewis stayed on long enough to see Avi win the leadership.
