Ricapitolando.

President Zelensky told AFP that Washington and Moscow are putting pressure on Kyiv to withdraw from Donbas as part of any agreement to end the war. He said both sides are telling Ukraine that if it wants the war to end tomorrow, it should pull its troops from Donbas. Let's collectively say: F*ck Trump and his gang.

doubt, his motivations are not this simple. Never were. He fundamentally dislikes Zelensky, he is operating in a bubble of bad information and yes men, and I do not think he actually cares who wins or loses the war. Nor do I think he gives a shift what the peasant Putin can offer, because it isn't much and Trump and get more from somewhere else. The reality is that Trump just wants the war over so he can claim he ended the war. He doesn't give a shit what happens to get to that point. And, ironically, if Trump had acted intelligently, the war might in fact be over by now. But he has breathed so much air into Russia it has extended the war for years. Which just goes to show how little he understands war and conflict and how divorced from reality he is. It is not about supporting Putin.

PURL is the program that allows us to buy Patriot missiles in the U.S. and other weapons that protect Ukrainians from Russian attacks, of course. Most of the air defense missiles that can stop Russian ballistic missiles come to us thanks to PURL. And PURL exists because of Europe – it’s true – Europe is paying for our ability to stop ballistic attacks. Thanks to everyone who helps us. Thank you! And honestly, one of the worst things a leader can hear in wartime is a report from the Air Force commander saying: the air defense units are empty – they used their missiles to stop Russian strikes, and there was no resupply. And intelligence says – a new massive attack may come in a day or two. Sometimes we manage to deliver new missiles for our Patriots or NASAMS just before an attack, and sometimes – at the last, very last moment. Thank you to every European leader who invests in PURL and in other joint defense programs. And I’m proud of our soldiers who repel Russian attacks, and of our logistics teams who have kept this system working for 4 years. And I am proud of our nation. And it is the courage and resilience of Ukrainians that make the difference. Our people deserve gratitude. They deserve respect.

Filippo Sensi, Member of the Italian Senate, and his powerful speech in support of Ukrainian fight, Vladyslav Heraskevych and honoring fallen Ukrainian Defenders: The IOC says Vladyslav Heraskevych's helmet doesn't comply with the regulations. Does the Russian military aggression comply? Since the IOC doesn't allow it, allow me to briefly tell you about some of those athletes, those who can't be on the track in Cortina today with Vladyslav. More than 650 of them were killed. Yevhen Malyshev, a biathlete, was killed in Kharkiv a month before his twentieth birthday. Maria Lebed, fifteen, was at her home in Dnipro, a missile. Dmytro Sharpar, twenty-five, a figure skater, died in Bakhmut while fighting to defend the front line. Volodymyr Androshchuk, twenty-two, an athlete, also died in Bakhmut. Daria Kurdel, twenty, was killed in a missile attack on Kharkiv. Ivan Kononenko, wounded in battle, wanted to return to the front lines, despite his doctors' advice. Alina Perehudova, a fourteen-year-old weightlifter, was queuing with her mother and uncle in Mariupol to stock up on water. Maksym Halinichev, a twenty-two-year-old boxer, was killed while defending his village in Luhansk region. Oleksii Loginov, a twenty-three-year-old hockey player, was killed in Luhansk. Fedir Yepifanov, eighteen, a fencer, killed on the front in Zaporizhia. Kateryna Dyachenko, eleven, a gymnast, was hit by a bomb in Mariupol, her family buried under the rubble, survivors in a hospital destroyed by an air raid immediately afterward. No one in her family survived. Karina Bakur, a seventeen-year-old kickboxer and world champion, was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a missile attack in Berestin, where she threw herself on her father to protect him from the fire. Victoria Ivashko, a nine-year-old judoka, was struck by a missile in Kiev three years ago and was at home with her mother. These, Mr. President, are the names and stories of the Ukrainian athletes that Heraskevych wanted to carry with him as a memorial, to give them strength, to allow them to compete with him as they deserved. The IOC disqualified this, and nothing else, and this disqualifies the IOC forever. May God forgive them, may God forgive us. Thank you.
❗️Vladyslav Heraskevych was disqualified from competing in the Olympics. He refused to not wear his "helmet of remembrance" with images of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia. Source: Suspilne Sport

Europeans are funny people. Trump or no Trump, they still don’t understand the basic fact in front of them. The Russia–Ukraine war is not a passing storm. It is the central security event of this century for Europe. Whatever happens next – ceasefire, negotiations, escalation, frozen conflict – the consequences will dominate European politics and security for generations. Yet much of Europe behaves as if this is an inconvenience they can manage from a distance. It’s the classic ostrich strategy: keep your head in the sand, avoid uncomfortable decisions, hope someone else fixes the problem. That may feel safer in the short term. In the long term it is a guarantee of worse outcomes. If Europe doesn’t step into this war seriously now, it simply loses control over the future. The worst-case scenario is obvious – direct military threat to EU countries themselves. But there are many softer bad scenarios: permanent instability on Europe’s borders, weakened NATO credibility, unbalanced militarized economies, energy insecurity, and a continent that lives in a state of constant tension. None of that disappears because European leaders prefer not to think about it. What many fail to grasp is the scale of the rupture. This war is historic collision between two systems. No signature on a document will suddenly reset that reality. The sooner Europeans stop treating the war as something happening “over there” and start acting as if their own future depends on the outcome – the better that future will be.
