The debate over expanding the Abraham Accords misses an important point: Türkiye and Israel already had decades of deep diplomatic, economic, military, and intelligence cooperation before the accords existed. Here is my latest for @turkiyetodaycom: turkiyetoday.com/opinion/tru…

No women, no cry? At the China-US "G2" table, no real representation of humanity’s talent, perspectives, and leadership. In the AI age, global diplomacy still sometimes looks like a meeting from the previous century.

For the the idea of a regional non-aggression pact based on Helsinki model to be workable there must be a U.S.-Iran non-aggression pact, which Tehran has been open to. Without it non-aggression pact gives Arab states security but not Iran. Second, a successful pact needs real economic engagement which was part of Helsinki and was a promise of Iran-Saudi normalization. This needs U.S. sanctions relief. Arab states right can offer Iran neither security nor economic engagement on a non-aggression pact.

Key takeaways 🧵 * The UAE increasingly favors a security framework centered on Israel and U.S.-aligned deterrence against Iran.*The Saudi–UAE divide is now strategic — visible across Yemen, Sudan, Libya, and Somaliland* The Iran war accelerated competing regional security blocs.

While Gulf states still see Iran as a threat, they no longer view Israel uniformly. The UAE has moved toward deeper integration with Israel, while Saudi Arabia is pursuing a more cautious balancing strategy alongside partners such as Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and Oman.
