Apologies in advance, will mainly just tweet what I'm listening to, and my Birmingham City related pain. Mute me now.

The decision by the BBC and ITV to not have a MOTD style World Cup highlights programme is bonkers. This is the one time I wouldn't mind hearing from pundits on the stories of players and teams.

The stupidity of, and damage done by, stamp duty is being recognised by more and more people. I’ve said it before and l’ll say it again: any govt which cared about economic growth and people’s welfare would abolish it. thetimes.com/article/026bd67…

This will never end. It's been explained a thousand times but some people still think UK pensioners are somehow being punished with a 'measly' state pension. It would cost over £250,000 to buy an equivalent annuity - and why is other pension income never mentioned 🤔
And remember we also have one of the worst pensions in Europe. One of the very least generous in the whole G7 👇🏼👏🏻

Shang-Chi, what a film. Shang-Chi 2 is the film the MCU should have prioritised.

I agree. The ordinary women were thrown under the bus in 2016 when the ringleaders rejected the possibility of a means-tested benefit because most wouldn't qualify. I'd have supported the campaign if it was for poorer women but it wasn't, and it never has been.

When pollsters say this, expect politicians to be VERY cautious about ending the Triple Lock.
I am genuinely interested in the counter factual where winter fuel didn’t happen. Nearly 2 years on it still comes up more often than not in focus groups (and contrary to what some assume just as often from non pensioners) as the moment people lost faith in Starmer and his Govt

When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, it had to suspend normal visa rules for the tournament. Foreigners with tickets could enter visa-free, using a scheme called ‘Fan ID.’ Russia also had to do weird stuff to keep FIFA’s sponsors happy. For example, small shops near Fan Zones and stadiums could only sell Budweiser beer on match days. So yes, FIFA absolutely does dictate conditions to host governments when it suits FIFA. Infantino pretending otherwise is nonsense.
Infantino was asked by a BBC journalist if he's embarrassed by what has come to pass and does he accept he's lost control of his tournament here. His response: “in 2035, the Women’s World Cup, I think, will be in the UK. Would you find it normal that FIFA will dictate to the British government who to let in the country and who not to let in?” #FIFAWorldCup

The ‘link’ to an unknown, unfunded future state pension is just a mirage Essentially it’s just borrow more now to make state transfers now A lot of which would find its way into higher house prices

Because government also gives us 50 years of tax breaks so that you can save for yourself and not be entirely on the state It also gives our employers tax breaks to put money in your pension And now makes it law that they have to pay in too.

The Buy Now Pay Later of housing / wealth inequality plans. At some point we'll realise the problem isn't actually due to the lack of money to get a deposit for a lifetime mortgage... And that this will really only benefit existing owners & maintain a failing housing system.
Would you defer your state pension by a year in return for a cash lump sum of £12,500 in your 30s, when you need it most? This is what @SMFthinktank call the Citizens Advance. Britain is in need of radical ideas. We believe this is one of them.
