Peplink just dropped Firmware 8.5.4 RC1, and it's looking like a strong step forward from the beta.
The headline for me is the new ability to use an iPhone as a USB mobile modem – super handy for quick backups or failover in the field. Supported on a bunch of Balance, MAX (like BR1 ENT, BR2 Pro HW4, HD2/4 series, MBX Mini), B One, MediaFast, SDX/SDX Pro.
They tightened up security with an updated tunneling protocol for Remote Web Admin and InTouch, plus they cut the HA sync interval down to 2 minutes (from 5) – that's going to help with faster failover consistency.
On the fix side, there's a critical one: patched a remote code execution vuln in the API (Ref 35920) – definitely worth prioritizing if you're exposed. Also sorted out some Synergy mode headaches where devices wouldn't come back online in InControl after disconnects/reboots, plus a bunch of cellular stability improvements (no more repeated carrier selection loops, better eSIM handling, fixed module upgrades failing, etc.). Wi-Fi WAN roaming got some love too, and they fixed issues like captive portal not showing up or Web UI hanging on bandwidth changes.
Full supported models list is broad – pretty much all the current Balance, MAX HD/BR series, B One, MediaFast, UBR Plus, SDX/EPX/PDX, FusionHub, etc. Check the notes for your exact hardware.
As always with RC, run it in a lab or non-critical setup first to shake out any surprises. The release notes PDF is here:

Anyone jumping on this RC already? Noticed any wins (or gotchas) with the iPhone USB modem or the security patches? Would love to hear real-world feedback.
