It reminds me of the early days of Space Twitter. So glad to see the spirit of connection and global community coming back to life here.
This is the greatest version of X that has ever and might ever exist. My entire for you page is European tourists discovering (and loving) Taco Bell, Buccee's, BBQ, SEC stadiums and more Americana. It's a level of joy and positivity I've never seen on this app. I love it here.

Making me homesick for Texas BBQ. This is how it’s done!
LOOK how I, as a Scottish guy in America for the World Cup, was welcomed to a Texas BBQ - okay sorry other BBQs but Texas takes the lead 🤩🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

This was also the plot of Dogma.
Hollywood has spent nearly $600 million trying to bring Matt Damon home. Have they considered maybe he just doesn’t want to come back?

I'm finally reading Dune. This quote, which is in the first few pages, hits hard: "Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."

Different salaries should only affect how luxurious your life is, not your food quality or ability to afford rent. If you work 40 hours at any job, your income should be enough to live in the town you work in. Thinking otherwise is an abysmal indicator of your humanity.
what’s that unpopular opinion that will have you like this?

This is weak, @RubenGallego. Men want an optimistic view of the future and the opportunity to help build that future. Not excuses for bad behavior.
Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) called on Democrats to stop writing men off as "inherently bad and toxic by nature." He could be an effective if imperfect messenger as Democrats try to woo back disaffected men. My (free to read) dispatch from WelcomeFest: nationaljournal.com/s/732000…

Ossoff: Y'all remember they promised to drain the swamp ? Instead, this is the most corrupt administration of all time and everybody knows it. While Americans are struggling, the first family raking in billions of dollars.  Just listen to this. Last September the president of Kazakhstan calls Donald Trump and says he wants to grant tungsten mining to an American company. And the very next month, Eric and Don Junior get a stake in the American company pursuing the mining deal . 6 days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake, Kazakhstan announces this company will get the largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the world The US government, run by father, sets aside 1.6 billion of your tax dollars to fund and finance their mining project. All this while you pay more for groceries, gas, and healthcare. If you're involved in any of this—next year you'll be raising your right hand and swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help you God in front of the United States Congress

Ossoff: This is what small men like Donald Trump and JD Vance and Stephen Miller will never understand—that our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes, but through our ideas. Americans are not a race, we're a people united not by ethnicity, but by our shared convictions, and that is what makes us exceptional

Some of us tried to warn folks back in 2018 that they should be worried about what happens when a microgravity manufacturing company decides it’s cheaper to buy a ride on Starship than to use human spacecraft or stations.
The pod from god is something we’ve been expecting for a while. I didn’t expect it to be seemingly optimized for pez. Which in theory accelerates the timeline to P2P cargo and in-space manufacturing market development (in theory order). Some big contract will be announced in 2-3 years and everyone will be scrambling to figure out what they missed.

This sounds like live action Ace Combat and I am here for it.
OK hear me out: Top Gun CINEMATIC UNIVERSE. Make spin offs that go beyond the US Navy aviators, get the air force a movie with crossover characters. Go international, like the french 'Les Chevaliers Du Ciel'. Then assemble the squadrons together for a big crossover movie against.... aliens? The robot uprising? Kaiju?

I had the good fortune to meet Cameron when I was 19 and a NASA intern. He came to our lab to talk about the future of space travel. One of the most creative and brilliant people I’ve ever encountered.
Original concept art painted by the film's director James Cameron for the 1984 sci-fi movie, THE TERMINATOR.

It was the lore, campaign, and matchmaking (like Strikes) that kept me coming back to Destiny 2. I was invested in the universe and there were ways for a gamer dad like me to keep playing. Marathon is beautiful, but it is not as accessible and I don’t see that changing.
The reality is that now, more than ever, people should want Marathon to win. If it can thrive, it can expand in interesting ways, it can give Bungie runway and leeway with Sony for future projects. It's all upside if you want more Bungie games or even more Destiny. Marathon dying from here doesn't help anyone. Though that does not mean I'm going to just cheerlead if things don't turn around

The technology and know-how exist to build nuclear reactors that will give America energy independence. It is long past time we act on it.
Imagine a reactor that uses cheap, readily available and very effective light water as the moderator with low cost, inert helium gas as the heat transfer fluid. Since the water isn't moving heat from the reactor, it doesn't need to be hot or pressurized. And, as Admiral Rickover famously said, water doesn't crack. When in contact with helium or low temperature water, zirconium alloys are both effective cladding and not susceptible to hydrogen-generating metal-water reactions. With water moderation, regular fuel can enable long duration, compact cores. (Regular fuel = LEU in the form of UO2 pellets at <5% enrichment.) Without pressurized water, reactor vessels can be thin walled, relatively light and easily manufactured. These ideas are some of the foundational concepts for Deployable Energy's Unity Nuclear Battery. Bobby Gallagher, the founder, CEO and CTO of Deployable Energy joined me for Atomic Show #345 to talk about his company, their product and their visions. Link to follow.

I went when I was 9. @SpaceCampUSA absolutely convinced me that I had to be part of the space industry. I’m glad to see today’s generation get the same opportunity I did!
U.S. Space & Rocket Center @RocketCenterUSA in Huntsville, Alabama, home to @SpaceCampUSA. I am quite sure if I had not attended when I was 12, I would not be where I am today. And now this generation of campers will grow up in a world where outposts are operating on the Moon and someday Mars. Hard to imagine what could be more exciting or inspiring.

We're super-hyped about this on our side of the pond @goonhillyorg. Going to have to brush up on my Cornish before my next visit! #adlunam
We're excited to share that Goonhilly will be acquired by @Int_Machines, subject to regulatory approval. Continuing to operate out of Cornwall, this acquisition will expand Intuitive Machine’s integrated space-to-Earth network. ➡️goonhilly.org/Goonhilly-to-b…
