Been back in the studio recording another drama I've written with BBC Audio Drama North. The big buzz I already had has been boosted and blasted to another planet because of this brilliant cast. And of course @Nadia_Molinari, @Lorna_ClaireN and the whole team!

Aaaaand now the World Cup can begin. Was worried we wouldn't have @ElMengem buzzing between barbershops, bus stops and markets giving us the authentic, alternative stories... Phew.

We’re not covering the World Cup this summer. We’re covering The World’s Cup. We were on the beaches in Brazil in 2014. The streets of Moscow in 2018. But in 2022, we did something different. We went thousands of miles from the stadium, deep into Argentina, to show what the tournament actually does to the people who live for it. We found something so special that we’re doing it again. Even bigger. So while the matches themselves unfold in the US, Canada and Mexico, we’ll be showing how they are experienced everywhere else - in Baghdad, Tashkent, Asunción, Praia and far beyond. The World Cup doesn’t only belong to the host nations. It belongs to everyone who lives for it. Stay tuned, something very special is on the way.

If Alex Scott plays tonight (as predicted) which number will he wear? 27? Let's just say all the players at the camp-but-not-in-the-official-squad play? Could we be getting up to shirt number 31? How does it work? Surely he won't wear a number assigned to a WC member? @squadnos

It's so true by the way what they say about World Cups. The one when you're about 8 - 12 years old is the one you have the most memories of. Japan and South Korea, for me. 98 too but mainly only the final. 02 was class.

Must be really difficult to decide between a multi-million pound contract somewhere and a multi-million pound contract somewhere else.
Jarrod Bowen is 'absolutely devastated' following one of the worst weeks of his life, which has 'hit him hard', according to @heatworld. 'It’s been one of the worst weeks of Dani and Jarrod’s lives (Jarrod missing out on World Cup squad/West Ham relegated),’ says a source. ‘Dani is doing her best to try to make things better, but he’s absolutely devastated. She’s never seen him like this.' The current situation has caused tensions, with the pair at loggerheads over their future. 'Jarrod will be 30 this year, and this was probably his last chance to go to a World Cup. Although he does want to stay at West Ham, he doesn’t know what the future holds,' says the source. 'The whole Dyer family want Jarrod to stay, so he’s feeling the pressure – but he needs to do what’s best for him. He’s been linked to Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle, which would mean a move up north – something Dani isn’t very keen on. Danny will be devastated if he leaves West Ham, too, and a move up north would really twist the knife.' The source continues, 'Dani isn’t like a lot of footballers' wives. She has her own commitments, and can’t just pack up and follow him, but she doesn’t want to live apart from him with the kids.' 'If Dani does Strictly, she’d ideally need to be close to London – and will want Jarrod nearby to help out,’ we’re told. ‘But playing in the Premier League means a better salary and a better career.’ The source adds, ‘It’s one of the biggest tests in their marriage so far.'

Incredibly Burnley for them to have their (probably) one and only European campaign for decades before a competition was invented which many/all English sides do well in. Finished 7th in 17/18 but still had to win three rounds just to get to the Europa League group phases.

No way should strikers in the Brazil squad play for Bournemouth and Brentford. Football's distorted.

Fun factoid. Last prime minister to come to power by winning an election and leave power by losing one - what you’d think was the way these things are meant to work - was Edward Heath over half a century ago

Because nothing says "promoted to the Premier League" like a song about a homeless woman addicted to Class A drugs.
The A Team. 🥲

Some of the best kits, best stadium (although they're moving) and best badge in footy.
🚨🇮🇹 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 | Venezia have been PROMOTED to Serie A! ✅ Beautiful stadium and a very unique city. Fun fact, their stadium is primarily accessible by boat. 😍🛶

Don't want to see this loser connected to this football club in any way after last night's sickly display of televised mourning.

When's the minute silence for our supreme leader? I'm currently polishing the portrait I have of Parker which hangs above my telly, as made law for all in Burnley. Hard to type this from beneath my black veil.
"I think it knocked them a little bit" Mike Jackson on tonight's defeat and the "shock" of Scott Parker's departure. #twitterclarets burnleyexpress.net/sport/foo…

No way should Leeds be twenty points better off than us, having both been on one hundred points last season. Pathetic that we're going to Elland Road at this stage of the season cut adrift to such an extent.

Never have I seen an advert for something and thought, "yep that'll flop" as clearly as I have with this
Feels as if ITVX is giving up on The Neighbourhood. They have already put the whole series on their streaming service.

I would usually say something like, "A Burnley win tonight after sacking Parker six months too late when we're already relegated is just so typically Burnley" but I still think we're too shite to do that Parker or no Parker

Is Dan angling for one of his cardigan cast-offs? Never seen a feeling like today? Deary, deary me. I tell you what, I'd rather see the players win a tackle than type a love letter on Instagram.
If you want to know the measure of the man, spend a minute reading what the players say about him. Never seen a feeling like at the training ground like today. Lucky to have worked with him. I’ve worked with many top managers. He’s up there with them all. #twitterclarets

If the players put the same kind of shift in on the pitch as they have on Instagram today, he'd still be in a job

Relegated tonight but it's a campaign which ended before Xmas. A turgid, pathetic, petulant slog of a season. Parker should've gone months ago and should be sacked before morning. Not fussed about going down other than the financial aspect. But bothered about how we've gone down.

"Burnley can't, in front of their own fans, sit back and accept relegation." Ah bless TalkSport. It's been accepted for a while. We've been relegated since November lads.
