for a long time my most kudos’d fic was a star wars fic I spent like an hour on max and I was so excited when finally another fic defeated it as my most kudos’d
ironically by another one shot (but one I spend more time one) while a fic I spent many months on is at 3k kudos less

The best story I've ever written has like 40 kudos, meanwhile my most popular fic is absolute dog shit, and ever since I noticed that I don't really pay attention to what it means if my fic "flops" (however you define it)

I will say I care less when a fic I love flops (I’ve had plenty of them that have) but it deeply pains me when I write something that’s I really love, something poignant and full of my own sadness and people actually like im such a morally bad person for writing a sad fic

A lot of my fics are sad because a lot of the time I am sad & fic writing is a way for me to process & expeess myself
& every time I’d rather them flop and only be read by others who need a sad fic on a day they’re feeling a lot of emotions than read by people who will hate them
