From the country that bought us ‘hydration’ breaks 🙄
The World Cup has been great so far, and FIFA is selling a lot of tickets. The cynicism about a 48-team format wasn't really warranted. However, it does create some awkwardness, with group-stage games being low-stakes and a weird bracket. The solution? Expand to 64.

More importantly did they mention a replacement coach?
The idiots on NRL 360 have selected 39 guys for NSW for Game 3 so far 😂😂

There’s a deep irony seeing all the new dawners of Australian soccer bang on about our game’s multiculturalism together with the great unwashed. These are the same people who supported Frank Lowy’s White Australia Policy whitewashing the game in 2005. Putrid hypocritical dogs.

The double standards is astounding
Wests Tigers and Benji Marshall were set to welcome Israel Folau back to the NRL – until the ARL Commission allegedly intervened, ultimately blocking the cross-code star’s return. #NRL 🏈 bit.ly/4ozSlYY Get the news first with The Daily Telegraph app: bit.ly/4bOfgf8

Brisbane have reportedly been offered wantaway Dragon Luciano Leilua. Leilua’s name has been put on the radar of the Broncos after he requested an immediate release from St George Illawarra but it's unlikely he will depart before June 30. 📰 @badel_cmail

This is no surprise. They’ve done a superb job for 40 years
Can we just take a minute to appreciate what SBS has done in the first few days of the World Cup… From a broadcast perspective, they’re awesome. Highlights, mini matches, extended highlights, full replays as soon as the match is done. The hosts and panelists have done a great job between matches with informative and interesting discussion, not just ragebait and headlines. And completely free. In terms of a sporting product… jeez, it puts a few other outlets on the hot seat with viewers you’d think

Plenty watching the World Cup who won’t watch the Aleague either 😂
Am I enjoying the State of Origin? Definitely. Will I ever watch NRL? Absolutely not

Having qualified for six successive World Cups and still going cap in hand for government funding, highlights how weak and pathetic @FootballAUS are. And Garriock is part of the problem. Meanwhile NRL and AFL,no problem.
Football’s blunt message to Australia’s politicians: you’ve worn our jerseys, it’s time to actually support the sport Full story: tinyurl.com/5m7whe93

From the country that gives you a ‘hydration’ break 🙄
Should the World Cup broadcasts show each nation's FIFA world soccer ranking, like a college FB/BB game? This England-Croatia game is #4 vs. #11, so a close match Cape Verde-Spain was #67 v. #2 I'm sure FIFA has rules for stuff like this. It'd help instantly convey narrative!

Installing should take about 10 minutes?🙄
Installation of the Western Stand roof at the refurbished Penrith Park has started I'll try to get some photos tomorrow. The more the work progresses the more excited I am becoming for our return home next year. @PenrithPanthers

🚨🔴 BREAKING NEWS: FIFA have officially apologized for the error made during Argentina's match after Lionel Messi was not shown a red card for his controversial challenge. According to FIFA, the referee and VAR team failed to properly review the incident despite clear contact being visible from multiple angles. We admitted that the tackle should have been reviewed and that the officials made a mistake by allowing play to continue without disciplinary action.🔴
Community note
FIFA has not issued any apology or admission of error regarding the referee's decision on Messi's challenge, as confirmed by the absence of such statements on their official site. fifa.com/en/tournaments… inside.fifa.com

As are all politicians in this country these days
Pauline Hanson is a surprisingly uninteresting person. She's not funny or entertaining or charming, her political behaviour is completely drawn from a meagre US ideology. Her ideas are dull and narcissistic. Her voice is tremulous and not engaging.

The puzzling decision is appointing Daley as coach again
With tonight's loss - Laurie Daley becomes the coach who has lost the most defeats in Origin history. Daley passes Wayne Bennett, losing 12 matches in Origin across his two stints in 2013-17, 2025-present. Some really puzzling coaching decisions contributing to NSW's demise. #Origin

In Sydney they’re wasting money to sit on grass, while in Brisbane they’re wasting money to make you stand.
Suncorp Stadium is set for its biggest upgrade since reopening in 2003 🏟️ New entertainment zones, standing terraces, supersized screens and an Australian-first 360° LED ribbon board are all planned as part of a major redevelopment of Brisbane’s iconic venue. The upgrades…

We have none of those things. Neither does NZ.
Australia just has to host a World Cup. We have the infrastructure, we have the stadiums, we nail major sporting events… it brings people together and would pump up the economy Not a single negative. ⚽️🏟️

👏👏👏
We are about to see a bunch of adverts telling us to “gamble responsibly”, and then State Of Origin 2 will be refereed by a self reported problem gambler. What a time to be alive…. #RugbyLeague #NRL

It’s the ABC which should be either scrapped or merged with SBS
The @SBS is one of the finest TV channels in the world. @PaulineHansonOz proposal to scrap it is nothing short of cultural vandalism. And is deeply racist. @PressClubAust
