The World Cup has been great so far, and FIFA is selling a lot of tickets. The cynicism about a 48-team format wasn't really warranted.
However, it does create some awkwardness, with group-stage games being low-stakes and a weird bracket. The solution? Expand to 64.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate what SBS has done in the first few days of the World Cup…
From a broadcast perspective, they’re awesome.
Highlights, mini matches, extended highlights, full replays as soon as the match is done.
The hosts and panelists have done a great job between matches with informative and interesting discussion, not just ragebait and headlines.
And completely free.
In terms of a sporting product… jeez, it puts a few other outlets on the hot seat with viewers you’d think

According to FIFA, the referee and VAR team failed to properly review the incident despite clear contact being visible from multiple angles.
