Warnock: We have all of this naked, unabashed corruption. I don't know if Donald Trump was a billionaire or not the first time he ran, he said he was. But we all know he is now. He has made more money in this year and a half than he's made in his entire life. He's enriching his sons… He said he was going to look out for the families of this nation. And I guess since charity begins at home, he started with his own family. He just forgot about the rest of our families.

The fact Trump has directed the Kennedy Center to cover the front wall of the center with a tarp so no one can see his name has been removed confirms how much this matters to Trump and to our Republic. This is one of the most visible losses for Trump and undermines his effort to appear invincible.

Trump looked into the camera and said of the ballroom, “This is taxpayer-free. We have no taxpayer putting up 10 cents.” Three weeks earlier, his own contractor had already put it in writing. The ballroom would cost $600 million, with half of it from you, the taxpayer. Trump knew. He said it anyway. This administration has no problem shortchanging Medicaid or food for kids. But $300 million for a ballroom and a private bunker? Found that money instantly. I am an appropriator. I see the budget. This was never about what we can afford. It is about who they choose to spend it on. I will fight this in every hearing, every markup, every vote, until the last dime is accounted for.
