Soon to be divorced, moved back from Cyprus 3 weeks ago, started a new job in a school, immediately hated it so handed in my resignation yesterday and don’t have a job to go to. And yet I’m weirdly not panicking! 😬

That said if anyone knows of any education based jobs (that aren’t as a classroom teacher) going available, I’d be extremely grateful if you could send them my way. Roll on 2026 🥴

Before you blindly rearrange, factorise then solve, it might be better to slow down and ask yourself: "What do you notice?" mathsbot.com/cpd

Totally agree with this. Trying to explain to bottom set kids they have a GCSE in maths if they get a 1 is quite difficult. All because of the ‘magical grade 4’ that makes others think anything less is inadequate.
If there’s one plea I could make ahead of GCSE results day tomorrow, it’s in the way the media and other commentators talk about GCSE grades. Grades 1-3 are not fails. Us or Xs are. Anyone with a 1-3 HAS GOT A GCSE. And for some of those kiddos, a 1 or a 2 or 3 can be a phenomenal result that they deserve to be proud of. Let’s be a bit more responsible in our language.

Every year we send out 5000 posters to UK schools, but we're not sure they all get opened. If you throw it away, you might be depriving your students of a lot of fun, so If you get an A4 envelope that looks like this, maybe at least open it and take a look, pretty please?

New! A post that summarises some of the developments, trends and resources for maths teachers from the past year. Kind of like a mega-gems-catch-up post to make sure everyone is up-to-date. 💎 resourceaholic.com/2024/08/l… #mathsgems #mathschat #teammaths #mathscpdchat #mathstlp

This was one of my students who had self taught himself further maths a-level. I had to fight for him to be entered with our candidates and he came out with an A* 🥹 unbelievably proud and grateful to have played a part in his maths journey.

A really decent beginners app for learning Greek? I’ve downloaded duolingo but was wondering if any others were more effective?

This year was my first year 13 class (who I had from beginning of year 12) and they smashed it out of the park! Ironically it’s likely my last year 13 class as I won’t be returning to a school environment but definitely gives me some confidence to keep a level on when I tutor.

Replying to @easyJet
@easyJet a really random urgent ask… would a boxed vacuum cleaner (within weight limits) be okay to submit as hold luggage?

Absolute radio silence from me recently… apologies 😬. Officially moved to Cyprus just over 2 weeks ago. Still climatising whilst currently 35 weeks pregnant. Oh and my firstborn is resembling Satan’s offspring. So here is a sunny beach photo to remind myself life is good ☺️.
