Conversational language is easy, almost everyone gets there. But are Indian languages generating enough good new content that attracts interest? I cant think of the last time I read on any topics of my interest in Marathi except history. Its the same story every other state.

Reminder
The Sarah Paine podcast episode on India on Dwarkesh Patel is a great explainer of Indo-US ties since WW2, and the disastrous choices both sides have made in the past. Also a reminder that Trump's attempt to get IN to cooperate with PK vs CN are doomed to fail.

For India, the past has not passed. It survives in cultural spaces, journeys, and stories. 'The Long Memory' project aims to shift the historical lens from a dead, archived 'History' to a living, embodied 'Memory'. Read the inaugural essay by our Associate Editor, Arjun Anand:

The "when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail" approach to blocking TG is why we dont have an Indian TG or social media platform. Its unlikely to ever exist, much less go global. Every corporator and bahubali can disrupt it or arrest its employees.

Iran's economy at market rate is $350b. Theyre still pumping oil same as before. Damage is done to stock (assets) than flow (gdp), but unlikely to exceed even 5%. WWII caused a 20% damage to USSR gdp.
NOW: Netanyahu: We have caused enormous damage to Iran's economy; some estimate it at one trillion dollars.

Good read on the history of nVidia from its early days and shift from gaming to AI. But it misses the ~8 year demand from crypto miners from 2014 -2022.

Sir, they have blocked access to the very AI models you said we should share instead of build
India doesn't need to lead the world in building the most advanced AI models. But it must lead in ensuring benefits of AI are widely shared. @rvenk and I have an op-ed in The @EconomicTimes economictimes.indiatimes.com…

Part 2 in the series on coal gasification. This time around, I focus on the economics of it. I try to show what the best path forward for India is and the economics definitely suggest that our first priority should be gasification for fertilizers and methanol. The article got a bit too long but you can just browse the panels for each part if you don't want to read it. The panels tell the same story. substack.com/@indiaemerges/n…
New article up now: The Molecules India Doesn't Make - on the science & tech of coal gasification. Pros and cons & as honest as it can be. Economics of coal gasification next in a week or two, time permitting. indiaemerges.substack.com/p/…
