most people think prediction markets just answer yes or no. but the contract type you use completely changes what information you extract from the crowd.
-> event contracts give you a probability. you buy a contract that pays $1 if something happens, $0 if it doesn't. a price of $0.65 means a 65% chance.
-> continuous contracts give you the mean. instead of yes/no, the payout depends on the actual number — like what percentage of the vote a candidate receives.
-> spread contracts give you the median. you're betting on whether a result lands above or below a threshold, revealing the middle outcome the market expects.
-> many contracts together give you the full picture. slice the outcomes into small ranges and price each one, suddenly you can see the entire probability distribution, not just who wins, but how likely every scenario is.
