After Vote Chori and Sarkar Chori - the BJP-EC jugalbandi has finished the contest before it has even begun with Seat Chori. Look at what happened in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan ji submitted every document. No pending cases. The EC cancelled her nomination on a frivolous BJP objection. Parimal Nathwani ji, the BJP-backed independent, got his own name wrong on the form and skipped multiple mandatory disclosures. The EC gave him an extension to fix everything. Same Election Commission. Two candidates. One was disqualified without even a hearing. The other was rewarded despite not following the rules. When the Congress sought a meeting, the EC first tried to evade us. When we finally met, they did not say one word. Expect to see much more of this - because for the BJP, it is far easier to fix the election than to win it.

Right now, the best advice I can give you as an automotive journalist is to stop buying new cars and bikes, until this #ethanol mess is sorted out. OEMs are too scared to say anything to the government, so this will be one way of pressurising them as well.

Suprising there's no national movement against ethanol blending, people pour life savings into buying vehicles yet wouldn't confront the government, except a few blackpillers & neutral folks. @volklub & others with reach must do something & turn this into an election issue.

I can confirm that @VFSGlobal is an organisation that forces people to choose Premium Lounge. I remember in 2022 I applied for the UK visa and VFS Global in New Delhi forced me to take lounge cause I was apparently 5 minutes late for the biometrics.

Unfortunate service by @SamsungIndia. They send service people who suggest my refrigerator can’t be fixed by the company and can only be done by off the book means and then these people ruin my fridge, show it is fixed. The fridge stops working and they stop answering. Sad.

The umpiring standards of the @IPL are worse than Ranji or PSL. Mediocre Indian umpires who take more wrong decisions than right. No accuracy, lack of transparency and rushed wrong decisions not just on field but by TV umpires too. The apparent no.1 league deserves better.
In my time I made it a point only to have the BEST GLOBAL UMPIRES FROM AROUND THE WORLD thru the @ICC - it’s a shame that the BCCI has abandoned that rule now. Three things that were engraved into my running the @ipl was 1. ICC umpires. 2. ICC Anti corruption team. 3. Management of the tournament by @IMG - All three things have been abandoned for a cheaper solution. For Heaven’s sake we OWN THE WORLDS MOST PROFITABLE SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT LEAGUE - stop this nickel and dimming and get back on track. Do what’s good for the GAME and IMPROVE FAN EXPERIENCE. If I don’t call this out. No one else will. The fans and players and owners don’t deserve this - The problem is that the people governing the game have no stake in the game. So really don’t know what they are doing - very unfortunate. Cutting corners is a sure way of slowly downgrading the game. Wake up 😢🤬🏏

Bogus umpiring or a targeted bias against KKR? Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and has also accumulated one demerit point because of yesterday's incident. 3rd umpire Rohan Pandit rushed Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s subjective 'obstructing the field' dismissal. The least he could have done to not make the biasness obvious was take some more time. In the previous encounter against LSG, umpires rushed into the decision when the fielder seemingly touched the boundary cushions to dismiss Finn Allen. Even the commentators pointed it out! Nah, checking it properly is too much effort, right? Both were the wickets of top order batsman. Both completely killed our momentum. @BCCI , you run the richest franchise league in the world. Instead of dumping money into unnecessary flashy tech, how about fixing this amateur, garbage standard of umpiring? Stop robbing teams and keep it fair. #CheatingAgainstKKR

In all humility and with complete respect for judiciary, I have written the following letter to Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, informing her that pursuing Gandhian principles of Satyagraha, it won’t be possible for me to pursue this case in her court, either in person or through a counsel. I have taken this difficult decision after coming to the clear conclusion that the proceedings being conducted in her court do not, in any manner, satisfy the fundamental principle that ‘justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done’. My participation in these proceedings, either myself or through a counsel will not achieve anything meaningful.

No journalist covering the #Bengal elections can ignore this: SIR deletions while they are - aren't just rolls purification —there is also clear  disenfranchisement. .. - Have met scores outside appellate tribunals with complete documentation— even links to the 2002 rolls—standing in long queues losing daily wages, spending precious  ₹150–₹300 on photocopies, only to leave confused, anxious, holding a torn white slip with a hand scribbled number. this isn't what electoral integrity looks like .. Did the powers that be fail to safeguard it? Yes.

In spite of consumer court complains and chargeback requests and of course multiple cases of harassment @goibibo doesn’t budge. This is so harsh that such a company exists in India. I sincerely regret booking my flights with them.

Appeal all MPs of #Odisha, irrespective of party affiliation, to raise your voice both inside and outside the Parliament against the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill as it could undermine Odisha’s dignity, representation, and long-term interests. Let us stand united in protecting the interests of our state while continuing to support genuine and equitable reforms. The Bill if implemented, will reduce Odisha's share in Lok Sabha from 3.9% to 3.4%, making us amongst the top 6 states losing their share. A 0.5% share loss is a huge loss given our minuscule 3.9% representation today. A relative reduction in Odisha's voice in the Lok Sabha would weaken our ability to advocate for state-specific needs, from disaster management to tribal welfare and regional development. This is not merely a political issue—it is about preserving the federal spirit enshrined in our Constitution. @bjd_odisha wholeheartedly supports the principle of women's empowerment and greater representation of women in Legislative bodies. The idea of reserving seats for women in Parliament and the State Assemblies is both progressive and necessary. I have been a personal champion of it, as has been my father Late Biju Patnaik. He pioneered the reservation for women in Panchayat Raj Institutions and I took it forward further with your support. The Biju Janata Dal whole-heartedly supported the 106th Constitution Amendment Bill in 2023 with regard to Women's reservation (the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam). However, the current 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, as proposed, raises serious concerns that go beyond its stated objective. The proposed linkage between women's reservation and the delimitation process, which is expected to follow the next Census, has far-reaching implications. States like Odisha, which have made significant strides in population control and human development are being penalised. A disproportionate increase in Lok Sabha seats in more populous states could skew the allocation of central resources and policy attention. This may adversely impact Odisha's share in national development priorities, fiscal transfers, and infrastructure investments. Odisha has been a large contributor to the revenue of the Government and yet has always received discriminatory treatment including the denial of a special status. Our development needs are unique given the composition of our population. For the people of #Odisha, representation in Parliament is not just about numbers—it is about identity, pride, and the assurance that our unique history, language, and aspirations are heard at the highest levels. Any move that diminishes our presence in the national discourse can create a sense of degradation among our people. The Bill steals the political representation future of people of Odisha. We cannot let it happen under our watch when people of Odisha have voted you to protect their economic and political future through the Parliament. Biju Janata Dal is prepared to take it to the people of Odisha if our legitimate concerns and demands are trampled by the majority voice of other states.

Asked someone from the industry whether foreign investors are still interested in allocating to India. The TLDR: Interest has pretty much died out. India is seen as geopolitically exposed, especially to an oil shock. There are no real AI plays. Valuations are rich. And the rupee situation doesn't help. On top of that, investors who were sitting on gains have taken money off the table and are now looking at markets like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Europe etc instead. He also pointed out that our LTCG/STCG structure and the increase in STT have made India less attractive compared to other markets that are seeing inflows. If we need to attract FPIs back, and we do, fixing this feels like pretty low-hanging fruit.
