I think one of the important aspects of these trailers is that they weren’t ripped from the game. A creative team had to come up with a trailer that fit the tone and soul of the game. It had to hook you on the “atmosphere”, which is a foreign concept to most games nowadays.

I'm confused. Why didn't the trailer end with a screen telling me to preorder the deluxe edition so I can dress my character in a neon pink furry skin? This literally looks so outdated too, they should make all the surfaces shinier. I hope it gets a remake in UE5 soon.

Essentially arriving at “just mod it” from first principles is sort of funny. Halo was a curated and hand-crafted experience made with intentional design. They had to keep the mechanics AND environments in mind. This is not that, it’s just a hollow attempt to “modernize”.
We live in this weird age of Halo where you can customize your gameplay in anyway you want but people still complain.
Don’t want sprint? Turn it off
Want a 60 round AR? Do it!
Want third person? Go ahead!
Don’t like the HUD? Change it!
