When carbon (offsetting) is the only concern, you get non-native monocultural production forests that will be used for timber – perhaps even charcoal – and won't even sequester the promised amounts of CO2.

Old #FAO data but worth a reminder at the end of the 2021: the biggest average annual loss of primary #forest area in 2010–2020 was in Africa, and #DRC accounted for 85% of this loss. bit.ly/3mNgpcu p.37.
